Why is it........?
That everytime I want a part off a dealer I get hassle but if I go to a Subaru specialist I got what I want with no hassle at all???
As some of you are aware I'm after a speedo cable, I phoned Kieth Price and ask for a speedo cable. Guy on the otherend of the phone asks if it an import or a British car, so I tell him it an import. Ok sir do you have the chassis number, no I reply. I will need it he tells me. Ok so I ring Calvin for his chassis number, ring back give the number and I get Sorry sir it's an import.
I mean for **** sake at what point didn't he understand when I told him at the start that it an import?????
Ok so I ask if he can just type in any British chassis number so we can order the part and he get shirty on me. I'm not making up chassis number for you.
Ok. So I ask him what the issue is and he tells me that Subaru uk don't want to sell me the part because my car is japanse and that they made no money on it.
Surelly Subaru is Subaru, because the curent economic climate that money would be money what ever the country. And small dealerships would do anything for the trade.
Anyway at this point I'm not ammused and hang up.
I then phone Grade A and after a simple, do you have, question my new speedo cable is on it's way and will be here in the morning.
Thank You Grade A
Kieth Price you can shove it up your ****. And to think I was trying to support a local company. Ha what a joke.
Right rant over.

TBH I have always found Keith Price very good even when ordering parts for the S202, being in the parts business myself I do make sure I have the chassis number to hand though before ringing.
Having been up to KP to collect parts I started chatting to the parts guys and they then have to fax the identification request to Subaru UK, it can take a few hours for them to come back but I've never had a problem.
Subaru UK won't allow the dealers the parts information to identify the parts themselves, as they say they have to contact Japan for part numbers.
I do agree it all seems a bit cr@p but I don't think it is KP's fault but you obviously caught this parts person at a bad time.
Take pity on poor parts people...

as danny said get a chassis number off a uk car and save it in your phone or somewere safe then if you know its a standard part just use the uk number and say no more,
i had the same problem a few weeks ago with an oil seal for the TY gearbox but must have caught the parts guy on a good day at KP and got him to send me down the part on just my say so it was the right part, but then i did say i was a subaru specialist and give him my garage address to deliver it

We've bought quite a few bits of both Keith Price and CVC and both were pretty good. You should write in a letter of complaint matey and the 'salesman' will hopefully get an ear bending. Glad you foung GradeA ok though

Sorry to hear this Dyl, they couldn't have been more helpful with me when i ordered the exact same part a few years back. They took my chassis number knowing it was an import and said they had to email Subaru Japan for a part number and price, then called me back the following day with a price and when i agreed, they ordered the part which arrived a few days later. Always found Keith Price very helpful especially compared to CVC, which is a shame as CVC are only around the corner from my work base. Good to know we have alternatives, were Grade A cheaper then Dyl?
