Default heeeeelp please

Hi guys we hace just bought another scoob after lasting just over a month with out 1, Its a 1995 plate uk spec turbo and yep its green with gold alloys but a nice solid body just what we were looking for to be a tidy project. Here we go when i was driving it back if you drove it normal it was fine, soon as you tried giving it some it would just start missing, so had the plugs done today and still the same, the car is quite lazy to fire but ticks over fine once it does any ideas what else this could be? As far as i know only mods are de cat exhaust and induction kit, was told it had an sti bottom end but think the guy was just bulling to sell it, any advice be great as car is still up garage waiting for next ideas.

Id say MAF aswell. My CEL never came on when mine packed in. Could be a possibility with a CAIK. Espescially if it's oiled.

If it only occurs when it's under load I would suspect air/fuel issues. Not sure on early Classic MAF issues.

Try and get a fault code done even if there are no indications. Indigo GT put a reader on my and they came up with hsitoric codes as well.

i had a similar problem and it turned out to be my coil packs breaking down under load,
just a thought.

you should be able to do your own fault code reading with joining the wires under the drivers side dash and counting the flashes,
as Ian said it might not be flashing now but it might have a historic code that the seller has cleared before you collected the car
it might narrow it down a bit for you

hope you get it sorted soon

Subaru's can be quite sensitive to the gap on the spark plug. May be worth a check (it's a pain I know but it's normally little things..........).

Improperly gapped plugs or a weak coil pack i'd hazard a guess at.

Right guys was a coil pack going and over boosting due to the actuator adjusted best i can as i dont want to put the boost too low lol Whats the best ecu to go for on a 1995 uk spec turbo? would it be the z4 as i seen they run with raised boost and fuel cut off or would i just be better going for a chip also aparantly the car is running a larger turbo. Im thinking maybe the car was stripped of some parts by a previous owner before being sold to get extra cash

How about saving up for a second hand Apexi ecu? They can be had for around £300-£400 second hand.

sim ill get some pics soon before i clean it up then some after another 10 hour flat n polish session and update them as the car takes shape as now it just looks completely standard even got the small spoiler, does seem strang to be able to see out of rear window though lol couldnt with the spoiler on the last scoob lol and the chip or z4 would only be for this year as next year ill start the engine work and go for an ecu like a gems or simtek like i did with the last just a shame never got around to fitting it, there just summat about the apexi i dont like, prob all the control you have with it too confusing lol ill be happy with 3 switches in the car that i cant mess up lol
