gear lever spring??????
well we sold the scoob yesterday, now we have decided to look at a wagon, cant stay away from these cars lol we have found one but the guy said it wont select 1st gear but the rest are fine and he has been told it a gear lever spring. I have seen another advertised with this, does the box need to come out to be done? or does it mean the box is collapsing, i have had 2 boxes go on me and both times started with 3rd, the cars is cheap enough to change box but only if changing spring would mean stripping the old box to repair, thanks.

the only spring outside the casing is under the transmission tunnel and wouldnt affect it selecting 1st gear, so im guessing its an internal fault, but saying that i have my box in bits on the bench at this very moment and theres no springs inside at all,
is it a turbo wagon or a sport/gl im saying this because the sport/gl models have hi/low ratio levers and it might be summut to do with that,

yeah only springs accosiated with the gearbox are the ones on the linkage that joins to the back left side of the box if your looking from behind it. and the only other spring is on the clutch fork
i my self can not see this from stopping you select first either.

sorry guys change of plan we have found a bit more money and have our eyes on a faultless car we can start getting big power out of quickly rather than fix faults first, thanks for your replys anyway. It was a 340 bhp wagon on piston heads by the way
