Default ECU choices ?

I'm in the process of ordering all the parts to try and get my car sorted and i am stuck with the ECU and Turbo
I know there are loads of options out there but who in South Wales can fit and map my car for me ? and what options are available ?

I know a few people have Simtek's and they do seem very popular, but i have heard some good things about Solaris.
Anybody got experience and advice ?

I want the car to hit around 450bhp and there have been a few turbo's touted to me - the RCM450 and the MD555 and also Lateral's MD321T
Anybody got any of these or anything you'd recommend ?

Thanks

I'm running the Scoobyclinic SC46 turbo on mine and find this very good.

It produced 446 BHP and 509lbs on v power and 478 bhp and 538lbs on v-power with 10% meth. the spool up is very quick with next to no lag at all.

the new Billet SC range is supposed to be even better.

there has been talk of the RC/MD321 range of turbos not hitting the quoted figures. whether this is true i don't know.

ECU, you can't go wrong with either, the Simtek is £700 cheaper

Will i need bigger injectors than the 550's i'm currently running ?
I've just had a look on Scoobyclinic and see they have the SC50 on offer - would this be suitable or is it too big for a 2.0ltr ?

Injector wise, go for at least 800s TBH, if you go for adjustable 1000s you can always wind them down a bit

think that the sc50 turbo would be more suited to the 2.3/ 2.5 as it would be a bit laggy on the 2 ltr

maybe a md321h would be better match to the 2ltr

bigger injectors are a must

is the engine forged ??

and solaris or simtek are good as no maff

there are many mappers like jgm, bob r, andy f, and so on

I've a MD321H on my Type R running 375 bhp @ 1.5 bar but I suppose upping the boost would push that closer to 400.
I'm sure the 321H is rated to 400 so if you want more the MD555might be better.
As Lee said the 321T is more suited to a 2.5.

Fantastic spool up on the 321H very drivable and lag free.

have a chat with either David @API or someone at Scoobyclinic, they'll be able to advise what would suit you best.

I would say you need atleast 740cc injectors

We've been getting good results with the RCM 420 on 2.0 cars. I will be trying a Scoobyclinic Billet SC46 in the next week or two on a 2.5. In the case of this particular car, I don't think that the SC54 billet would be appropriate, as l am charged not to make the car laggy, by the owner.

Simtek is the ECu of choice in my opinion.

We do a variable rate injectors based around the original pink STi injectors. You need a Fuel Pressure reg with any of that sort of uprated injectors as you need to control fuel pressure on ANY bigger injector to be sure of correct fuelling. In which case Fuel lab FPR every time.

Good luck, Call me to talk it through if you wish

Simtek seems to be favourite... The Solaris is a good unit but i think it might be more than i need as the car will never be tracked

I'm on your website as we speak David - will be calling you shortly

Solaris is probably the better ECU especially if u want to run a variety of different maps, different fuel and boost levels etc, i ran a Simtek in my old car and it was fine for what i wanted and i would of found it hard to justify the extra cost of the Solaris.

Turbo wise i think an SC50 will be to big for a 2.0, think i would probably try the new Billet SC46 for the goal u are looking for.

For injectors i sent my standard 440's off to Lateral performance and had them modified and flow matched so they were flowing around 900cc, they worked great on my car, which was around 400bhp on low boost and around 430bhp on high boost, also leaves a bit of head room if u want to go further.

Luckily the 550's are not in the car at the moment so i think i'll pop them in the post to Lateral Performance this week.

Just about to give Scoobyclinic a buzz for a price on the Billet SC46
