Default How would you gauge this?

Well I got your interest, just thought I would post up some pics of the Prosport gauges that are currently on a group buy.

They were fitted on Sunday by rsedwards for me as I am pretty useless when it comes to anything electrical although I do build my own PC's but I would definitely would not have the patience in order to complete the job in one or several attempts.

The gauge is an ATI pod (thanks Calvin) which I purchased from Scoobyparts along with an adpator kit for the oil pressure/temperature sensors.

Thanks to Rich for fitting them for me and if you have any jobs I would get in touch with him , his work is far more professional and careful than a lot of 'trained' technicians I have seen during my years in the motor trade.

The one thing that did surprise me though is how little boost that I use during 'normal' driving .

I get up to 1.4 bar when I thought I would get about 1.5 bar but when the car was mapped Bob Rawle he set the mapping up for torque and not BHP, so it is understandable I imagine. The power on my car runs out at about 5600 rpm but it pulls like a train from low down.

And on Sunday I could not really give it the beans as you can see on the pics it was really p1$$1ng it down but it does surprise me a little so see how little boost is used during normal driving.

Yeah I know what you mean, what a God awfull day !! I agree on the normal driving boost issue, my gauge hardly shows any boost and I don't appear to be hanging around either, with little boost being registered - until you use the right foot that is and it all comes on then.

Can you remember what standard boost you had, before the mapping

Sorry Simon I do not have a clue what the boost levels were like before the mapping, after the mapping the low to mid range punch was like a different car to before.

It is probably just me thinking I would expect to see the boost gauge flying up even when 'toodling' around.

Trying not to be nosey Ty I was wondering about boost pressures for std UK/JDM cars and if they differed, I'm glad the map on yours has turned it into a better beast

When I was at Dave Coe's having my running issues sorted, he said that my boost was a bit up on standard, but don't know what his benchmark was and with what car (JDM/UK). Mine stays at 1 bar - and like you have experienced, my gauge doesn't do much when tootling around, saying that the car still feels quick without boost anyway.

Yes I know, perhaps black is the new blue when it comes to Imprezas.

Had a set of these fitted to my old classic and they were great. Very clear to see on the move and I wish I'd kept them to be honest. Only problem I had was with the original oil temp sensor which went on the blink after a few months.

Nice install Rich

Great,
Nice and clear which make them easy to read.

Oil temp and pressure are a must

Yes they give you a clear of when you can 'give it the beans' but it is far more distracting trying to watch the boost gauge fly up when you start some 'spirited' driving.

I did begin to wonder if you might be tempted to fit them into your own car.

Thanks Rich for relocating the immobiliser led into the pod not many people would take the trouble to carry that out, I am really pleased with the job.

Lovely looking dials. Noticed they say peak on them....do they recall your highest boost?oil pressure?oil temp? or is that a warning indicator if things are going too high.
Eitherway look great.

If you are interested if you find the thread in the group buy section it lists a code to give you 10% off the already low price.

Looks good Ty. My gauges have just gone on the blink so need some new ones soon. So with the group buy it's £103 for the three is it?

Will do. My oil temp keeps sticking and have to hit it to get it moving.

I would but I'm alittle short at the mo
Having my WRX gearbox rebuilt after it ate third gear & a few other bit's done.....not cheap
Still maybe get some in the future oneday although really I'm after 40-45mm gauges to fit under my stereo. Was looking at Omori gauges as Lamco's are abit hard to come by. Any other suggestions on that size gauge appreciated. Thanks
