P1 hmmmmm not many unmolestered ones about.
V5/6 JDM STi (biased) some very nice ones about. Good strong internals and a TD05 as standard and EcuTek plug and go mapping.
JDM STi Bugeyes very good prices, twin scroll 2ltr, tints, folding mirrors etc as standard but not to everyones tastes on the looks front but
WR1's are still quick juicey on price but you can get a Hawkeye in the same colourso not as exclusive as they where for looks.
The older stuff is cheaper on parts too.
You could go outside the box and look at JDM Legacy (new shape) GT Spec B's or a Foggy STi. Both unusual and both can get 330 BHP and 350 ftlbs of torkes with a quick map
There is someone on here who would flog his Type R if you asked for about £6K (no not Kev!)
But, it's your budget and you choice. Just my two pence worth.

And of course top of my list would be a 22b but this would be sub zero and would have to have it's own section.
When I saw Richy B's last Friday it was the first time I had seen one in the flesh and now I plan to buy one even if it costs me a lung or two.

I was fortunate to 'follow' in other words be left for dead by Richy's 22B on the Evo Triangle , and they really are the best looking Impreza ever made and his goes like the proverbial off a shovel.

Just fancy a change Kev, and if I keep it I'm gonna end up spending money on it and don't want to go down that road again.
It is a good one I think and if I can't get what I want for it then I'll keep it
Im not desperate to sell!!

P1 is a nice car but you pay alot of money for a Type R with bits removed.
Type R 2 doors are awkward with the kids clambering in and out. You can average £1500 more in "2 door tax"
STI - nice car, 4 doors good potential.
STI RA - same as STI but lower gears and DCCD.
WRX RA - as similar to STI as makes no odds, lower gears, no DCCD, cheap insurance.
My RA WRC editon has a VF29 turbo as standard, its very low geared, and mines got ECUTEK mapping so it doesn't lose out anywhere. Plus being a WRX RA its cheap to insure - its £150 less than my old UK turbo and £250 less than a Type R/P1. If you fancy a blast in mine let me know.
Depending on budget I would look at a black Prodrive Bugeye STI. UK car, good history etc etc Unless you really can't cope with the front end of a bugeye theres no point buying a blobeye until you get to late 54 onwards so you get the wider rear track and DCCD-A. Late blobs and hawks theres not much in it save for the price you pay. If you go JDM then first choice would be Bugeye STI "Prodrive Style" - these are not the same as UK Prodrives as they were built on an RA shell. Again go for late as possible JDM and have DCCD however I'm not sure how many people really use it and those I've spoken to say its not really needed day to day (although I would say that as mine doesn't have DCCD)
I know someone who is selling a black 05 plate WRX in Haverfordwest. Shes looked after it very well and its not been hammered since she's had it. Could be a deal to be done as I think she needs the dosh ASAP.

why dont you make an offer for the nice green one with the gold stickers thats parked in ya street lol
on a serious note if it was me and i fancied a change i think i would get a blob eye sti(preferably in white or black).maybe another classic (p1 or type r)wouldnt be different enough to warrant the outlay.make a short list and go for some test drives.

If I were classic buying, I'd buy this without question

The wife needs some dosh to start her own business so I'd consider flogging mine too.
