Thanks to you all. I know have a Spec C fuel pump and a new fuel filter.
Having had another "cough" involuntary stop! I have decided to do a complete job. So, the pump is coming out for a swap, inspection and refit and a new fuel filter is going in as well.
I can't complain really for 95K and tens years of age it's not costing that much.

Whoooo is me. The newage pumps are completely different to the Classic ones
Thankfully Kev came to the rescue
Fitted everything but noooooooooooooooooooo still no flow. I then noticed a connecter on the far side of the rear seat area with the fuel lines coming out. Left the ignition on, disconnected it then reconnected and the pump sprang into life It appeared to need a bit of a kick to get going. It's a much better noise from the pump now too.
The filter bag was black and loads of fine black stuff came out of the old pump.
