Default Bob Rawle Mapping Results

I had my car mapped today by Bob Rawle and I was really happy with the results , it achieved 285bhp (although on one run it did achieve 297bhp) and an amazing torque figure of 390lbs ft of torque.

I cannot thank Bob enough for his skills and he even fitted my 3 port boost solenoid prior to the mapping session.

I got a few stares from other drivers on my trips up and down the A470 between the Mountain Ash roundabout and Merthyr as we were flying past them, slowing down and then overtaking them again.

The car is now much more responsive and flies until the torque drops off after 6000rpm due to the astmathic turbo that in the words of Bob is strangling the engine.

I will now be on the look out for a vf39 turbocharger and a set of STi injectors so that the car can reach its next stage of tuning/mapping, the bug has well and truly bitten me now.

It was also good to meet STiX who had his car mapped after mine, I just hope my tea and coffee were not too bad either.

Great figures for the standard turbo there Tyron.... that top mount has certainly allowed some air in as well, very pleased to hear all went well on the session

Bob said that the torque figure would be greater the bhp but I did not expect that much.

I was impressed by the torque figures in comparison to the bhp, I was going to leave the search for a turbo until the autumn but now I want more power.

I had a chat with Bob today and he was telling me of your problem, sorry to hear that all did not go well. Hope you get it sorted soon and you can then get the car back up there for Bob to work his magic.

Nice to meet you too mate and your coffee was tops

I had a few scary moments in heavy rain - trying to do a power run full throttle in 3rd from 1800 rpm to 7000 rpm and with my clutch pedal not fully releasing

My car is genuinely scary fast now - but I'm sure I'll get used to it!!

Mid 320s bhp in a well mapped classic is goddamn rapid and Bob was well chuffed that it made 1 bar by 3k in 4th.

Forgot to ask Bob how much torque though - numpty.

I am glad now that I went first as it stopped raining just before we pulled out of the workshop, as I would not have fancied getting up to those speeds in the p1$$1ng down rain.

Why not drop Bob a PM? He should have your figures stored on his laptop and I am sure he can then let you know.

I am glad you liked your results as 320-330bhp is a great result.

It was flipping scary.

One eye on Bob's boost gauge.

One eye on the Rev counter.

One eye on the road.

Hmm - need another eye for the speedo as I only have the three!

No idea how fast we got upto but it was a lot....

Lots of standing water/aquaplaning/wheelspinning at god knows what speed downhill in places flat out.

Oh and usual I had a minor hangover

But yes done now well pleased the car feels mega rapid at the moment - until I get used to it.

Same for me, trying to look at the boost gauge, road and speedo.

I did see that I got up past 125mph (on a private road of course) and then I decided to keep both eyes on the road for the sake of my sanity and my underpants.

125mph on a private road - probably about right

I know Bob has done hundreds but he was so calm. The conditions were dreadful we were flat out wheelspinning/aquaplaning - and it was like a walk in the park for him! I was cacking it

At those speeds and in those conditions regardless of who was driving I would have been trying to find the ejector seat button.

You are right he was as cool as a cucumber , personally I hate being a passenger especially when somebody is giving it the beans.

Ty I PMed Bob as you suggested, and torque between 320 & 325.

So not your lofty 2.5 levels but good enough

Great results guys. Hope all isn't too bad Oz.
Jarv got great results with a TD05-20g Ty, not laggy at all on the 2.5 engine. You should out do him and fit an MD321T, that'll show him!

Bob recommended a vf39 turbo with STi pink 550cc injectors for a combination that would provide plenty of BHP and enough torque to keep up pulling all the way to the red line.

Race Jarvis? Never

I have seen a set of Spec C 600cc injectors which I might consider buying if they can be fitted ok to my car, does anyone know?

Bob assured me that the 5 speed gearbox in my car is more than capable of handling the torque from the engine as I was a little concerned , he said that provided you are not brutal with the gear change the gearbox will easily take the power.

It pulls like a train now and even though I have not got the BHP it really flies mid range and although I haven't had a chance to test it out against another car, I know a certain black 2.5 WRX might just be interested and if nothing else I can outbrake him.
