WARNING
Just got stopped in Ammanford for my front number plate being an illegal size. The officer that stopped me told me that there is going to be a big clampdown on ALL aftermarket numberplates from now on i,e spacing, font and font size. And he also said that this was a zero tolerence offence. The fine is £30 but no points. This is across all force areas So BEWARE

I had one of those tiny number plates on the front of my car, stayed on for about 5 days until i got pulled over and fined £30. It resides in the house now, just not worth the trouble. Mines an import too BTW, so i wouldn't bank on it.

Found this on the DVLA site.
Display of Vehicle Registration Marks on Imported Vehicles (which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:
The vehicle does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval
AND
The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number plates.
Specifications for smaller sized plates (for certain imported vehicles)
Character Height 64mm
Character Width 44mm
Character Stroke 10mm

They love it over there, got done driving through ammonford on the way to Swansea service following the rally last year.
Funny thing is that he caught me the day after he saw me first. He said he didn't have time to catch me the first time because he was chasing a rally car!

Both my plates are very small and the other week I had a panda car behind me in Cardiff who either didn't notice or didn't care.

Dont think the Beat bobbies bother, because the local officer has seen my car loads of times and not said anything. I think the DVLA has told the traffic divisions to clamp down on them due to the ANPR cameras.

They've still got it, its badged up as a 400 , but as we all know, the 400 was only available on an 8. Its used for ANPR work and i see it regularly on the A465 on Dowlais Top, Merthyr. Its been posted here loads of times before, but for those of you who don't know "CN06 DBX"
