Default heads up! Evo FQ 400 police vehicle cardiff

i've heard previous rumours of a black menacing Evo around cardiff and A48/M4. I spotted it today 4.00pm just down the road from Pentwyn shell station. it had pulled over a saab on a quiet road. it looked like a mean machine with a fully uniformed driver. Take care folks don't go racing, or the great black shark might get you (not that any one on here would act that irresponsibly).
rgds.

The strange thing is it's not a genuine FQ400 - the rossers paid for some extra flashy trim

Its NOT an FQ400. Mitsi didn't make a 400 in Evo IX guise. It's an FQ300 or 320 at the most. It gets around a bit, seen it in Bridgend, around Cardiff and near Swansea on one occasion. Here are some pics someone posted up of it ages ago. It one of two ANPR cars that South Wales police are running. It's even been in the Echo.

oh yeah just another warning cardiff police are running a sheme were they are pulling people over with suspect licence plate, they got me the other night said my plate were to small, they gave me a producer and a pink slip for an MOT station to stamp to show i had changed the plates, they bloody wasted my time for 20 mins while i sat in the back of their lexus 4x4 like a naughty little school boy.

Spotted this one in Talbot Green last summer when some plum in a mark 2 Golf Gti came sreaming up my **** trying to force me out of the way while i was doing 50 in a 50 zone. I let the **** pass and 2 seconds later a black evo past me at warp speed and almost run the guy off the road with blue lights flashing!! It was quite funny to see the guys face as i tootled past in the wifes little fiesta with a smile on my face, i dont think he could believe he was just pulled by an Evo

Yes, can't remember exactly what they are without looking them up but there is a conformity difference with import cars.

I only got pulled once when i had small numberplate on the STI. I tried the 'import' line but was shot down in flames by the rosser who took great pleasure in getting out a ruler to measure the letters, then compared them against the rule book.

Don't quote me but i think that if you have had a numberplate made up (i.e. any plate other than the one the car had in Japan) you have an obligation to use the correct front, size and spacing.

The only exception is where the car doesn't have a place to mount the numberplate correctly - which the scoob has.

If your car is an import, and just happens to have a front mount intercooler, lets say fitted in japan, and you say you are sure it was fitted in japan, then the number plate brackets wont be there, so you have to have a small number plate, here is what i found, and yes i got away with it, but i always carry a copy of the rules in the car.

Have a read. any comments would be good.

Display of Vehicle Registration Marks on Imported Vehicles (which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:The vehicle does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval AND
l The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number platesSpecifications for smaller sized plates (for certain imported vehicles)
Character Height
64mm
Character Width
44mm
Character Stroke
10mm
Space between characters
10mm

here is a link to all the info

let me know your comments.

cheers mark
