Default WHAT TURBO

As some of you might know i am having a FMIC fitted soon along with an induction kit. I have now been offered a TD05-16g turbo. Would it be wise to buy and fit it or would there be to much lag?

You would get a little lag but imo, nothing to worry about,

16g should be good for 300hp with a touch more torque.

Does yours not have a TD05-16g anyway?

To be honest mate a FMIC is a complete waste of time and money with standard TD04 turbo on, when i fitted my FMIC with standard turbo it actually made the car slower really killed the responsiveness of the car. So the turbo was replaced straight away with a VF34.
TD05 16G is the smallest turbo i would reccomend using with a FMIC (even then you probably be better off with a good top mount)
If i was starting my car again i wouldn't fit a FMIC unless my target bhp was over 400.
I have even considered removing my FMIC and fitting an sti 8 top mount, but i do plan on going to 450-500bhp at some point so may aswell leave it on till then.

Thats the thing, planning a big engine re-build next year,so trying to get some of the cheaper things done before the big bill comes sometime next year. I was just offered a TD05-16g and was wondering if it was worth putting it on when i fit the FMIC.

I've been thinking most of the day about this
Am i honestly going to see any performance difference by putting a FMIC and induction kit on the car with the spec i'm running currently?
Or will i be better off spending money else where e.g brakes and suspension?

Now my head hurts

My mate has a 93 classic with a TD05-16g along with a string of other mods. He was running top mount ic and Andy F wouldn't map it past 1.2bar,

My mate fit an Autobahn88 FMIC, this allowed Andy to map it to 1.4bar but due to a coil pack we had to drive back at 1.2bar. With the FMIC alone at the same boost, the car did feel quicker, you should be able to get more advance I'd guess, but at 1.4bar, it goes like lighting, 310hp & 310lbs/ft.

If its going on because your planning on going for big power, then put it on, you have it. If the TD05 is cheap enough and its a good one, then fit that also. You will have to fit the cone filter because of the fmic but try to locate the filter in the inner wing if possible as your only sucking warm air into the turbo which makes it even hotter.

But after doing all that, you'll defo need it mapping

So in that case i am better off going for the Ninja sports cat down pipe and new headers and up-pipe? Trying not to go down the re-map route quite yet.

As said your car shold already have a TD05-16 on it, have a look on the turbo, it's normally written on a small plate.

To be honest unless your planning on having a remap soon I'd wait until your going to have it remapped and then have all of the mods done just before.

If i was doing my car again, I'd start with the suspension and brakes. get the handerling and stopping sorted and then go for power.
