Seems like a very good idea... like a big scale version of the sump plugs with magnets on the end...

there is a device like this on helicopters that attracts chips using a magnet. it can be examined to find wear. and also if it builds up enough it will bridge a contact and light a caution light. much panic usually ensues.

I know of these. Much of the Britsih armour have the mag sump plugs and these work a treat so this hopefully would do the same.

Top idea for new or refurbed engines.

Not just Hellies It's used on ALL aircraft engines and nearly all gearbox's (Ex EFDC Teccie)
