had a moment there when i thought id got it, nope, runs fine when cold with CEL on and above faults, when hot will tick over roughly, going between 600 and 1100 rpm but cant drive with revs over 4000, unplug MAF when running, no change!!!
Its Knakered aint it.

it's gone into limp mode, I wouldn't drive it, I can't see changing the back box would of changed a great deal, as said it might of just highlighted the fact it was knackered maf in the first place.
Disconnect the battery, this will clear all of the codes, and then do a diginostic, this will show current fault codes.
Have a a chat with David at API, He'll be able to sort you out and answer any question you have, there isn't anything about these cars he doesn't know and he'll ship the goods for next day delivery

agree with Danny - the backbox and cel light happening at the same time is more than likey coincidence. Sounds more like an underlying problem unfortunately

ok, action plan, i've disconected the battery, gonna put std b/box back on the car, then we will see what fault codes we've got, then phone David at API,
I am so far into the dog house that even the dog won't look me in the eye!!
Should have left alone, then the car would have broke down on the way to the airport, at least it would not have been my fault

Thats what i thought, bugger!!
Got the std b/box on, just waiting now for the ecu to forget the error codes, i'm hoping that the air flow through the MAF with the Magnex box was too much for it and it MIGHT be ok on the std one , every things crossed. I will let you know after 9.

If it's a Version V then quite likely to be MAF sensor.
I would get it sorted straight away.
Speaking from experience as I'm still in the middle of a rebuild costing over 4K on parts alone at the moment. You will do some serious damage if your MAF sensor is playing up. I think they are about £70 + VAT at Roger CLarke Motorsport. They also recommend changing the oxygen sensor at same time.
Good Luck.
