Default Anybody changed a clutch before???

Help need. Anybody changed a clutch before? And how easy is it?

Any tip, advice, volunteers

yes i have and its not as hard as people make out ,just takes a while to do the job

Never done a clutch, wouldn't know where to start, but if you want a hand give me a shout

Forgot to say if nothing has been changed for a while i'd spray up all the bolts you are going to take off with WD or simular epsecially the downpipe

Thanks for all your posts, but for 200 quid a garage will fit my clutch and skim the flywheel

ACE charge between £220-£300 depending on how hard it is to get the down pipe off, he told me not to have the flywheel skimmed.

£200 is what API charge and I thought it was a pretty good price,

I thought you had to have the flywheel skimmed!!!! I changed mine to a lightened one at the time and really notice the diffance

Can't remember exactly what he said, but there was some reason for not skimming them, but i went for an Exedy lightweight one anyway.
Mine was in perfect condition apparantly if you need a 230mm one.

I thought it was the same flywheel thats on the 225 and 230 clutch

Sorry mis-read your post, you mean the clutch, not really sure about the flywheel being the same. Did read a post a couple weeks back about someone having trouble fitting a 230mm clutch on to an early 225 car, apparantly 99 times out of 100 it works fine but some have problems with clutch catching on something on the flywheel
