Default S/S Exhaust advice

Ok looking for some advice, I`m going to be replacing the standard exhaust on my MY99 turbo. I want a stainless steel exhaust thats only marginaly lounder than std (I want to be able to talk to the passangers at 80 mph), not a 4" / 5" loud as f**k Ninja.(getting old and the Mrs drives it as well)

What do think may fit the bill ?

Discuss please

Mark

Prodrive back box, gives off a lovely burble, not that loud whilst ideling or normal driving, but give it a bit of welly and it roars and motorway driving is fine, no headaches from the passengers

Ive got the full PPP sytem on mine, but the back box is from the cat up I should imagine, its all stinless steel, lots of people upgrade their back box for something with a little more grunt, try the classifieds, heres the back of the back box

Why dont you pop along to the meet on the 17th April and you can have a good listen to the zorsts, then you can go for the one you like the sound of, you can sit in my car and have a listen from the inside if you want, I wouldnt rush out and get one unless you've heard it, it just might be too quiet or too loud.

Hi mate

Popping down mate is definately the way to go as you will see a wide range of systems in use. As russ said a prodrive system could be the way forward. It may be worth having a word with Silver Scooby Sport as he had a full decat system with a ninja and it was very loud but has now changed it to a magnex back box with circular exit and has a perfect tone, lovely and quiet on idle nice cruising tone or a rumble when excellerating

There is also the idea depending on what you fancy of having a custom system made, ive had one made by Prospeed in cardiff as have a few other members and personally i cant knock my exhaust one bit from them. Charlie the owner built me a 3" stainless steel system from downpipe back leaving the first cat inplace and removed the center section cat. I told him what sound i was looking for and he hit it smack on, it rumbles quietly on tick over, roars on accelleration but very quiet on motorway cruises. Heres a Pic

That is a 4.5" exit but he also has a range of exits a few that do look like the prodrive ones

more than welcome to have a listen at the meet

Cheers

Ian

You could try a milltek system, i'll be at the meet on the 17th if you want to test the noise level.

Ive just swapped my Racebox for a Prodrive backbox (wanted as stock as possible). Theres very little noise difference between them, the Prodrive possibly being ever so slightly quieter.

I'll be selling my Racebox in the next few days, should anyone be interested? If so, PM me.

had a Prodrive backbox

Reasonably quiet
now have a Ninja 2 quite loud but it comes with a removable baffle that makes it like the Prodrive if not quieter
just push it in and tighten a nut and bolt

I'd second the magnex system, I had a magnex 6x4 oval before the 5Zigen which sounded relly nice but wasn't to loud, the 6x4 is a little louder then 3.5" version.

Depends what you are after, the Magnex sounds ok but doesn't have the high flow rates of some of the other systems so isn't the best for power. Hayward and Scott ones are top notch, other than that there is so much choice that it's basicaly personal preference. Have a listen at the next meet and a chat with the guys there, then base your choice on that.

Ok sorry that I havn`t been on earlier to reply but I`ve had to work.

Thanks for all the offers, and your right, the best solution is to come to the meet.
Seems like either a Prodrive or a Magnex at the moment

Could also look out for TSL gp N, similar to H&S and fairly standard looking, best thing is there are usually many of these boxes about as people upgrade in noise levels often making good cheap availability
