HELP please - wheel alignment at Powerstation
I know a number of owners have used Powerstation for the geometry/alignment set ups on their cars, so after a bit of feedback.
I've shot two sets of fronts, the original RE070 and a set of F1s in 4 months/12000 miles - the RE070s were illegal on the outside shoulders after only 3700 miles. Now the F1's are threadbare on the outside - insides are fine.
Had the 4 wheel alignment done when the F1's were added and there were problems with the alignment, which was corrected. But the fact that another set of fronts have disintergrated over south Wales' roads in 8000 miles is unbelievable. On the 4 previous scoobs I've always managed to get 15000 on a set of fronts, and changed the rears every 30000.
SO - firstly, anyone aware of problems on the 06 STi regarding excessive tyre wear (perhaps relating to the DCCD ), and secondly I know Powerstation have a very good reputation what are peoples experiences at Powerstation, regarding problem solving, costs, booking/service time etc.
Having another set of F1's fitted on the front this afternoon, so need to sort something in the next week or two before I shread those as well.
Cheers peeps,
Gareth

Transformed the handling on my WRX 01, would recommend to any one. Get up there and get your car "Fuzzed"
PowerStation
STi DCCD issuesIf it's an 06 then there may be an underlying problem get it in under Warranty.

I've had my geometry set by Power Station to compliment some other modifications ia had (inc Suspension and anti lift etc etc)
Yes it DID transform the car...... .... but that doesn't mean other 'Wheel alignment' places can't do the same thing........... (if they have the savvy)
Price wise, I found them competitive, but the round trip up there adds to the cost.........
My suggestion would be to get it on an alignment set up and get a print off to see if the settings have changed to 'what is was set to'.............
If the settings have not chaged AND the tyres have worn.......... then those settings aren't good for your car OR ar incorrect.......
For BOTH tyres to be worn equally over the same timescales would point to the geometry setup........... or somethings has knocked it ......
Whether the settings were 'correct' to allow better GRIP or set incorrectly creating wear.... is a discussion to be had with whoever........
HOWEVER, I understand that there is a compromise between GRIP and Tyre Wear........is this bit correct ?????
I would have thought this would have been discussed at the time of setup... or at least should have been if you were unaware

Thanks for the info guys. The company who fitted my tyres will do an aligment check end of the week, and while I'm sure they are more than able, wanted to get the setup checked by specialists on Scoobies.
I cant imagine any settings being applied to a car which wears the outside edge of a set of F1s to the canvas while leaving the inside edge virtually as new after 8000 miles.
Cheers guys, I'll see how I get on at the end of the week and may give Powerstation a call next week.
Out of interest Phil, what was the cost of the setup work at PS?. Please PM me if you'd prefer.
I'm also going to post the original question in Wheels/Tyres section for some other feedback.
Cheers
Gareth

Do you have standard suspension?
And had mine done by Andy from Ace Motorsport
When I fitted my Tein coilovers, I took it to PS to have the wheel geometry done and the bump steer mod done. After 6k, and noticed it was bald on the inside of the wheel. So, just swopped the fronts for the backs.
After having new tyres fitted, I took it to ACE to have the alignment done and he said the fronts where well out. Plus he give me a printout of the before and after and it's not as far PowerStation
