Default Warranty renewal

You do have to laugh sometimes as I just had the docs through for the warranty renewal for my 02 STi PPP type UK and they wanted £864 for the next year

Subaru Impreza £618
Subaru Impreza Turbo £864
Subaru Impreza Turbo P1 £1274

Do they pluck these numbers out of thin air or something

This comes at a time when im being made redundant due to staff cut backs as well

Needless to say i shall decline the renewal

Exactly the reason I got rid of my DBM, just too much upkeep, silly pricing!!!

That does seem a bit steep, it would give you more confidence if you knew that they would pay up if you did claim.

Every time someone posts on SN about renewals it's the same story, extortionite amounts of money and a lack of confidence about whether they're likely to pay out anyway.

If you think about it and do the sums, unless you have a complete engine failure there's not a great deal that can go wrong that'll costs you over £800 to put right. A gearbox rebuild perhaps, but someone like API will do that for about £800-£900 so you won't really lose out there.

If the turbo goes you can buy good quality second hand plus fitting, all for less that £500.

IMHO an extended warranty is a waste of money....(is that engine knocking I can hear ).
