Default what's that strange noise

didnt really notice on the weekend but when i was driving very slow today it seems that i've got a familar click click click on the drivers side wheel
finger is pointing at cv joint so thought i would phone up a helpfull subaru company local
so i phones up cvc in cardiff to find out some info and get a price
well they were as about as much help as using a bucket of water to put out an electric fire talk about a negative responce they did not have the time of day for me
it has amazed me that subaru can leave these people trade with a name that is somthing to do with subaru
now i'm not asking for somthing that is so technical that only the head engineer in sti in japan would know or even understand it's a bloody cv joint ffs if anyone knows the part number for this item i recon that i can half the price of what they would charge and have a lot better service than what they could or did offer me
so if anyone can help me on this i would be so greatfull
its a driver side cv joint for a v7 spec c i'ts more or less the same as the v8 british spec sti but i might be wrong
if anyone knows or thinks it could be somthing different any ideas would be very welcome. the boot gattor is still in tact so nothing really vissable

What sort of 'click click' noise? I'm getting a kind of click/rattle when I drive over uneven road surfaces. I though it was my exhaust rattling but the full decat hasn't solved it.

Sounds like it's coming from the front - how do I check whether it's the cv joint?

it sounds like somthing binding then when its past the bind it makes a click sounds like metal to metal more so on turning left i would have it a guess that on one revolution it makes this noise about 10 times rich
it really has all the signs of a cv joint

And now in the days of open book they should be happy Subaru UK have lifted the block on them working on JDM cars. I don't get it and feel another dealer day coming on.

Just thought. Daz's car had what I thought was tar but looked like grease down the side and so checked his CV joints just in case!!! Come to think it was a bit green so could have been CV grease? Were you in front of Daz coming down Richie? Wey hey...

Rich,
Let me have a listen to it on Thursday first, before you do anything else. I hope CVC's new place doesnt burn down in the night now!!!

Andy Card might be your best bet for a repair, but as I say, let me listen to it first.

Wayne.

I had exactly the same noise. Have you checked the retaining clip which holds the brake hose on the suspension. Just a thought

check if your pads are low, there should be a limit marker, there is also a spring which rests on the pads, which runs over the disc.a bit of **** could be on the disc, hence, with every rotation you may get a click.usually a c.v would click only when turning corners. see you thursday.

Wink

Hi had the same on my old classic, thought it was NSF CV but turned out to be the wheel bearing.
Price of parts were about £40+ for CV and £45+ for the bearing, trade prices i might add, did the job myself took about an hour.
Hope you get it sorted.
All the best Dixie.
