Exclamation URGENT***Help needed with locking nut !

Just went out to paint my rear hubs up ready for sat & I cant find my locking wheel nut/key

Must've put it somewhere other than its usual place when I changed the wheels over ! Can anyone help with a spare, buy, lend whatever ???

They look like this below, standard Subaru/RB5 locking nuts .... sorry the pics are a bit crap !

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, in the end I used a pair of pliers to remove 3 but the 4th was a right b4stard, So I used a hammered and an old 3/4" socket which was a good fit, hammered the socket on and undid it with the rachet.

be sure to use a an old extention bar as this will stop any damage to the wheel, extention bar was scrap after so use an old one

Cheers Dan, I'll do that as a last resort though cos then I'll need to buy a new set straight away.

Just spoke to KP & they want 30 mins labour to get the old ones off with the master key & £25 for a new set not including vat no doubt !

I'd ask them what they mean by master key???

I bet all they'll do is use a slightly fancer socket to what I used, one that cuts into nut counter clockwise, locks in place and then use's a rachet to remove,

Would normally say take it to Gt tyres he'd get them off for you no problem for about £10-£15, but Grant is getting married tomorrow, then he'll be off on honeymoon. If your not in a rush you could wait it'll he comes back.

If you want to try and get them off yourself, you need to shock the thread before trying to turn it with anything it will make it a lot easier to turn.

Cheers Dean, only gotta do one more on the rear cos I'm painting the hubs. Just waiting on Ian to let me know if I can borrow his spare one to get the others off as I've just bought a new set off ebay.

I was surprised how easy it was to remove them. Won't be buying another set as don't see the point, will invest in a good tilt sensor for the alarm instead
