Afternoon all

Now the exhaust is on, wheels will be going on next week and the potential of group photo's on the horizon decided to get the paint work on the car a little bit better. Cheers to Si for the dent master number and i have a local detailer visiting to attempt to clean out the scratches and give the car a good clean/machine polish. After this though its up to me and from the conditions on everyone elses paint jobs i dont think sponge, chammy and one bucket of soapy water is gonna cut it

Soooo a visit to the polished Bliss website is on the cards especially after seeing the effect of the black fire stuff on Blue Dragoons wagon at Jap Fest. But what should the shopping list include? I have a bottle of meguires nxt wash and a bottle of the matching wax and one applicator to start me off

Can you guys tell me whats basics i need to use from starting the clean to finishing the car off and what i should be using cloth wise

Have a read through the 'had my car detailed' post in the general section mate. That is a full write up on what the detaillers do and how to keep your car in top 'show and shine' condition.

Only thing i wouldnt recomment doing weekly is using cutting compound otherwise u will have no paint left! lol (unless u wanted the polished metal look???)

I'm in need of a month off at least to try and catch up with everything as it is By far the best thing I ever did was getting rid of my dents that transforms a clean car completely. I'm going for a deep wet look finish on mine I'll keep you all posted on it as I progress.
Got a clay bar on order as well... never used one before so that will be interesting for sure, the car needs it you can feel the roughness to the paintwork even when the car is clean. When we were at Japfest I think it's safe to say Gazz showed us that even on a new car what a difference it made.

Ian I power wash then use the Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Car Wash and lambswool mit two bucket method, dry with a Poorboy's Super Thick & Plush Towel then Meguiars Quik Clay bar, (optional re-wash and dry) then Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish, apply with Meguiars Foam Applicator Pads and off with Poorboy's Towel (go round again if your feeling brave, then finish off with Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection buffed off again with Poorboy's Super Thick & Plush Towel. Then you should apply Poorboy's Bold N Bright to tyres (cheaper than Blackfire) and Stand back and admire .
If you are garaging overnight you can apply another coat of protection once cured but this is going a bit far I think.

They are well worth the money I promise. Word to the wise with the clay bar. Use it once on roof, then bonnet, boot top half of doors, wings and then lower doors and then bumpers. After this it will probably be good for the bin if it is really dirty. And golden rule, drop it, bin it. If you use it again go carefully and keep it in a plastic bag with some detailer sprayed over it.

God how sad am I looking back over this?

Sounds like a GREAT idea.........but **** me, I couldn't be arsed with all that. This evening I started my usual process of fill bucket with hot water and Turtle Wax Car Shampoo, Wash Car then Allow to dry naturally for that authentic smeared look.

Then, refill bucket with hot water and Turtle Wax Car Shampoo, back out to the car scrub wheels until clean (admittedly using different sponge).

Then is started raining......

I genuinely wish I had the patience and inclination to do it properly but there's too much beer to drink in this world to spend too many hours cleaning anything, including my car.

ian, the one thing to remember about cleaning a car is that you
out of the stuff you are using what you put into it,you can smear
polish on to a car but you wont get very good results.

the cheapest and best way to get the ultimate finnish and the cheapest i find at the moment is
clothes that my kids cant get into anymore(that's if they don't fit me )for washing ,wiping ,aplying removing anything to the car.
it's not really cheap as most of their clothes are designer labels but after the boy has worn them they are usually ready for the bin 2mins cutting off the buttons and stitching and your left with a nice cloth
after using some of the Meguiars products i must admit that with auto glym
they products facinate me but are a little bit pricey so treat yourself to a full blown weekend up at the pod and raid the freebee stands for these car care products and when you pull up beside gazz and kev and sss and nearly everybody with a scoob at these meets it does give you a nice warm feeling inside
the material does tend to soak up in the cloth but what the hell when its free and you don't tend to scrimp on the applications when it cost you nowt
