Default Cambelt change / oil leak - any alternatives to CVC in Cardiff ?

Just found out the small oil leak on my engine is from the rear timing belt housing, and garage reckon the belts will need changing as well, and it would be an engine out job ?

Was considering just getting CVC to do it, but anyone have any other alternatives who are good within a couple of miles of the city centre ? dont really want to drive it somewhere miles away just in case....

£2500 would cover a complete engine rebuild !!!

Seeing as they change the cambelts on the normal major service ( along with all the other bits ) which most main dealers seem to quote around £450, dont know why they charged him that - must have been more to it ?

Not sure what you mean on the oil leak mate, But mine was leaking from the crankshaft oil seal and coming out of the belt cover and then leaking onto the exhaust. I ordered the seal and took it to my local garage. He took the covers and the belt off and changed the seal all for £60. I was lucky though the belt had no oil on it so I could use the same one. This was about two years ago mind, but the guy who did it owns his own garage and is very good.

Tried Hyeline for something before, after getting no reply to 3 emails tried ringing them - phone just rang and rang without even as answerphone to take a message, and nobody ever phoned back from checking the number, so gave up on them.

Spoke to couple of other places who just didnt seem to have a clue !!! so thought it safer not to take the car to them.

Have booked it in to CVC now, I know they are expensive but what they have quoted for the job inc cambelt change isnt that bad - just like bringing foward the major service a bit, and at least they know what they are talking about.
