Question Floppy Door Mirror - How to fix?

Went through the car wash in Bridgend, the one next to Wicks & KFC and unfortunately it has knackered my drivers side door mirror. Mirror itself is fine, however, it is loose and i can move it up the mounting about 2 cms but it does not come all the way off. Anybody had this problem? how do i fix it?

Cheers Paul

Rob you know what the paints like on a scooby... just imagine how a car wash could scratch let alone the wing on the back, it's a risky move.

go back to the garage and tell them theve got to take it to the most expensive place you can think of and pay for it to be fixed or replaced.i know the car wash you meen i went there once when i worked for dunravan windows i went to take the van through and they refused me because it was a van and it could have a roof rack and that would break the car wash and i would have to pay for it.it didnt have a roof rack, and if thats there policy they have to pay for your repair.

You will have to remove mirror from car, then check to see if the spring has been stretched if this is the case you will have to strip it out, sometimes the bracket is broken off its mountings which is usually either riveted on or just attached plastic welded lugs, drill these out either get new spring or cut old one shorter then use self tappers to replace. I hope this works for you.It worked on one of my previous cars.
