It's the support bar that holds the engine to the engine bay fire wall, and stops it "pitching" forwards, or backwards under braking/acceleration.

What size engine, and how much torque do you have ?
420bhp shouldn't be an issue, but if you have a 2.5lt with 450ftlbs, it's not going to be up to it. Circa 400ftlbs shouldn't be an issue.

Yes the 230mm clutch is good for the Forester. The Blue box is a standard replacement, and the Pink box an up rated version, if it's been tuned.
