Well folks ive decided so sack off the 23rd march and do this one instead!
its not the cheapest around but its a good day and well run, ive booked on the intermediate so not to hold anyone up!
Its 3 groups a hour, 6x20min sessions, 3 in the morning, then a hour for lunch which they supply, very nice too! hot or cold, then 3 sessions in the afternoon.
after 2 hours of driving my cars quite had enough!
im not a wuss just like my car!
its 140 squid inc lunch and instruction if required.
maybe see some other scoobs there!
cheers Lee

Hiya damien/bob!
no its not a sidc day, its run by croft itself, so there will be a mixed bag of cars!
went to one last year and very well run, there was all sorts of motors, e type to a escort rally car with BDA to a 944 turbo.
and some geezer giving it hell for leather in a 1.6L escort estate so come and do your stuff bob but no laughing at me!
damien the 1155s are cracking! stop very well indeed, very progressive and no noise with em.
its only a hour away from me too, great run over. might have another sti coming and a mate with M3, also my brother is looking at evo 6 mak or a seven if he gets it by then.
cheers Lee

hi lee
that sounds good. croft is the nearest track to me apart from knockhill. there is a sidc day at knockhill on the 17th of march, so the 6th of april will be lovely. croft is about 3 hours drive
can you mail me nearer the time? or do we need to book early for this one?

Hiya Sam!
yeah i fancied the 17th march too! but i have commitments that day now!
im up your way at falkland on the 4th of march, plus working up there on the same day, its about three hours away from me and couldnt last out to the 17th, shame.
i might try one of the evening sessions at knockhill this summer
s ive now a bleedin wedding on the 20th of july, so had to cancel knockhill that day too.
ill give you a email a little nearer, there is 25 cars per group, ive gone for intermediate, they said it hasnt been advertised yet so not sure how quick the places will go?
but last time our group filled up. they said they wouldnt take payment off my card until the day looked like it was fully subscribed, if we get a few bookings we could have a really good day! the food wes excellent too! and they sell super unleaded just down the road.
if you fancy booking call clare Mon-Friday on 01325721815
Hope you an make it sam with that evo 7, be nice to see!
cheers Lee

Lee,
Undecided yet as to whether I want to go on track with this one. I can't afford too many track days (possibly 2) and I want to do an SIDC day to justify becoming a member.
I will at least come along to spectate. Does that cost any money?
Bob, yeah I could meet up with you. You can show me where it is as I don't have a clue.
Damian.

The Fiesta is for sale
I might have a R5GTT by then tho, might be tempted to take that on
The Escort I saw was silver, must be some sort of cult
Croft is dead easy to get to, no worries

Damien no worries m8, they will do a half day at a reduced rate, so only 3 sessions, its not that abrasive on the tyres either.
gone on ypu know you want too!
im hoping to do donno when they get the dates up, on the sidc board, if you fancy that?
bob that R5GTT sounds interesting, they will be checking there rear mirrors with your driving and that as your trusty steed
what sort of power to weight ratio have them things got?

I saw the Silver Escort at Donington - it's a standard 1.6 with uprated tyres & suspension
- he's been doing Donington for about 3 years I think, & with a bit of skill & experience, you can keep up with much faster cars.
I could catch him on the straights ( I guess I should as I've got a bit of a power advantage - 150hp V6 Sierra), but he wasn't much slower than me & I was quite surprised to find out how standard his car was when I had a chat to him.
His must be one of the cheapest to run track day cars ever - he still uses motorcraft pads at £8 a time & swears by them.

Hiya Bob,Damien,Sam.
Been onto croft today and its not looking like this day is going ahead
theres not enough interest to make the day run, they want to move every body from the 23rd March and the 6th April to 6th of May. so that is defo running. but i might try and find somewhere else to go instead, unless suddenly it fills up on the 6th!

Hiya Sam
Yeah you can book, if theres enough people it will go, they've taken my card details as provisional and are waiting to see what happens between now and the 6th, ill give em a ring on monday and ask em to cut the bullsh1t and see how many people they really have, i think 25 cars is required, Type R also said he might show.
Let me know what you decide, maybe some more of the scottish scoobs my come down for a change form Knockhill

hiya Sam! / Bob!
how was the Evo at knockhill yesterday?
i phoned croft and the 6th looks like its going ahead!
the novice has had a group booking and the expert is filling, so the intermediate has quite a few spots too!
they may amalgamate the int/exp together if there is not enough in both. Yikes!
Cheers Lee

Clare insisted on my being put in the advanced group....I tried blagging I was a track virgin but she wasn't having any of it
Although she did go onto say that the intermediates and advanced group may end up mixing it
The best bit is the 90 left just coming onto the start/finish straight, we all think we can go faster around there and catches everyone out, looks great for the spectators though as they see the cars fishtailing onto the grass
#23
LOL! you didnt blagg hard enough!
i know exactley where you mean! the "Hairpin" got me there on my first time round! realised it was a 2nd gear corner when it was to late !!
turned in in 3rd then thought theres no point fighting this it aint going round and took to the grass!
its smooth grass mind you and didnt loose much time!
somehow i think the 2 groups are going to be mixing it
ill use my mirrors!

Mellow Yellow,
With your track day experience at what oil temperature do you decide it's time to back off? I posted a similar question elsewhere and have had no response;
'What temperature is considered it is time to go into the pits to allow the engine/oil to cool? My Autometer gauge on the road reads 165 degrees fahrenheit when being able to drive along constantly but rises to 195 degrees fahrenheit when stuck in traffic'.
p.s. Are you still doing the octane booster? If so, how much is it? I could be interested in putting some into the car on the track day.
Damian.

Damien....
Just back from Cadwell
Temp....well, my car's engine etc...is still std and I stay out on track pretty long...I never reaally suffer from hight temp problems but tend to not allow it above 115 c .... it has only once hit this level after driving the car exceptionally hard, I then proceeded to do a cool down lap, open all windows, turn the heating up to full hot with the blower on full....into the pits, bonnet up and leave for a few minuits...no probs
What oil do you use ? I'm on Silkolene Pro S...has to be said that this also is a mitigating factor in oil temp too.
In closing, I tend to find that high oil temp is not a concern IF you keep say between 500 and 1000 rpm's below your limit...this isn't a difficult thing to do, adjust your gearchanging accordingly and you'll find it a lot smoother whilst still maintaing high speen throughout
NF Octane booster details are on my website mate www.scoobyscene.co.uk
See you there
