Well winter's closing in and there's going to be a couple of months break in the track day season, so what are you going to do? Organise your own track day of course! Just one of the strange thoughts that I have from time to time.

Anyhow, a friend and I have managed to secure Goodwood on 25 November. If you are interested in attending this day. The deal is that it is open to both cars and bikes, although they will be kept apart on the track. Due to noise restrictions, there is a 5 vehicle limit on the number of cars that are allowed on circuit at any one time so there won't be much traffic to contend with. Noise limits for individual vehicles is 105dB at 3/4 of maximum revs. This is pretty loud and the only non-WRC Impreza that I have seen above this level was mine when it had a straight through exhaust fitted (112dB).

There will be no more than 40 places sold and the plan is to run 5 lap sessions in the morning, we are hoping that we may be able to change to a queueing system at some point in the afternoon if people drift away or pack up. The bonus for Southerners is that I've persuaded my local Subaru dealer to bring along one of the new WRX beasties (assuming that they receive their demonstrator in time - this shouldn't be a problem as they are apparently already in the country). Much easier than going to the Motor Show. It won't be going on circuit but will be in the pitlane for general viewing and I'm sure that test drives will also be given if you ask him nicely.

If you would like to come, drop either me or John a line at jon.reeves@bike2track.com or alternatively you can call Jon on 0870 904 6633. The price is £100 and credit cards are acceptable.

Hope to see a few of you guys there,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I'm up for it.

Any plans to have tyre fitting services there - eg Tyres Northampton?

Cheers,
Rich.

Glad to hear it Rich,

I think that I'll wait to see how many Impreza folk are interested. If we get a good turnout, I'll have a word with Stef about TN. If not, I'll talk to a few local tyre places about doing something. Either way, I'll try to arrange something for the day.

Hi Tony,
Not got the brakes yet to join you boy's on the track, but am interested to spectate. Once all this is finalised, could you drop a mail letting me know times/meet etc please?
I attended Brands last Friday and thought it was cracking...

Jacko,

Buy the brakes, buy the brakes! I put off buying brakes hoping that I could get away with a compromise between cash and quality, but I never found a combination that worked well enough. The only answer is a big disc and alloy caliper set. I'll post more details about the day nearer the time but you'll be welcome to a few passenger laps. So make sure that you bring a helmet with you.

If any other Subaru owners are coming/thinking of coming, can you please post here because there are not currently enough Impreza drivers to justify my dealer bringing a WRX all the way to Goodwood, and I don't want him to waste his time and have the demonstrator away from his forecourt on a Saturday if there are only going to be a couple of Impreza fanatics there.

Equally, there is only one known SIDC member coming on this day at the moment although I'm not sure whether Triggar is a member. As there are only a very few places left, I won't be inviting TN aka the SIDC support unit but I am talking to a local company who are interested in supplying services. Rich, I presume you just want someone to change wheels for you?

See you there Rich, Triggar!

Yes, I am a SIDC member (Well I've sent the cheque with no response yet !). Would be great to see the WRX down there if you can persuade him. See ya there.

Tony - yes, I'm just after a simple tyre change as I will be buying new SO2's after Donnington and don't want to use them at Goodwood.

I will call Jon in the next couple of days to book up.

Rich.

Last time at Goodwood I didnt need to show my licence - it is very relaxed down there, and very different to Brands or Donno.

Alex, great that you're gonna come - its a great laugh - and what with the bikes there, it will be manic ! It's a great place to start too as only 5 cars are allowed on track at any one time.

Cool

Alex,

I can confirm what Triggar has said, you won't need to show your licence. We are down to the last few places now so you need to be quick if you want to secure a place. Please try to let me know by lunchtime if possible as we may sell out later today. Please can you either post here or call the number above in order to confirm.

Regards,
Tony

I have just heard that IM are having some problems and that they will not be releasing any WRXs to dealers prior to the Goodwood day. Therefore it is unfortunately no longer possible for my local dealer to bring along a car to this day.

Happier news about the WRX is that dealers will eventually be able to obtain replica WRC headlights.

There's currently one place remaining if anyone else is interested.

Question

Interesting, it may be worth another shot at trying to get a car along. I wasn't sure why IM weren't releasing the demo cars because they are already in the UK, maybe it's because they won't be releasing customer cars until February. I'm not sure why the customer cars have been delayed. Dare we hope for different light units?

Sorry guys and gals, all places have gone. They'll be about 10 cars and 30 bikes depending on what people decide to bring on the day.

Stuart - Unfortunately there will be no WRX on this occasion because IM are late delivering the cars to the dealers. Sound familiar?

Here's looking forward to a great day at Goodwood. At least there will be a good opportunity to socialise in the pitlane. Unless it rains and the bikers choose not to go out.
