2004 wrx sti type uk , getting a clunking or popping noise coming from front ( what I think is the suspension ) mostly when I'm turning and hitting a bump at the same time, Pulled the wheels and struts off today and bounced on the hub , there's a bit of clicking coming from the cv joint at the hub which just sounds like the splines moving very slightly back and forth is the normal are could this be a problem ? Then reassembled the struts and wheels and bounced on the front wing and I'm getting the popping noise from what I think is the strut , when I put my hand on the top mount I can feel the popping as it goes up and down although the top mount itself seems in good enough nick . Is this the same problem as the badly greesed rear struts I've heard about ? Any thoughts on what should be replaced first ie struts+shocks , cv joints , top mounts ? Any help appriated cheers

 

Coilovers or standard suspension?

I'd check your drop links too, if they're loose they can make it sound like your strut is popping as the sound seems to travel through the components.

 

It's just standard suspension , drop links don't look too bad but I'd be no expert in knowing if they weren't right ! Cheers

 

Finally got round to changing drop links today and the noise is still there , only seems to happen when car is warm and near enough on full steering lock either left or right , confused !!!
