Wagon suspension upgrades
Hope someone can help as I have asked seen so many posts here and us I just thought I'd put this out there
I have a 57 plate gb270 wagon with the knock on the rear dampers. I would like to know
Has any one fitted KYB AGX dampers
Or
Which ones would you fit all round?
And
Where should I get them fitted
Also
What else would anyone recommend to do at the same time and with what benefits effects to the drive such as ALK, camber, power flex kits etc
Thanks everyone-
ps my first post

Hi there
Welcome to SN
KYB AGX you can buy for New age,but you can use too classic one on yours(difference between the New age and classic one is in rear top mounts)
KYB making some good shocks which are priced well, just depends on the budget and if you are thinking buy some lowering springs then Eibach seems are mostly recommended
Depends on where are you located, but should be no problem for any garage to fit them, you will need wheel alignment
I would add Front and rear ARB(FR 22/RR 24mm) if budget allow,if not then at least Rear ARB(Anti Roll Bar) 22mm
ALK not sure if I would buy(you will gain more castor with rotating top mounts,if you have aftermarket camber plates/top mounts)
Camber bolts, yes is good to have and I would add too
If you will be lowering yours wagon, then I would add too Bump steer mod/roll centre kit, this is probably best thing if yours car will be lowered
Hope this helps

Your GB270 already has Prodrive sport springs (which are Eibach) and a mildly uprated rear ARB. These do improve the handling considerably over a standard WRX.
Droplinks are a must to change as they are plastic and useless.
I fitted the Powerstation T25 kit on my GB270 wagon - Whiteline front/rear 22mm adjustable ARB's, Whiteline ALK, Alloy droplinks, and AST coilover's plus a proper fast road geometry setup. Makes a huge difference to handling in all respects except it is a bit firmer but not as bad as a lot of coilover's.
If on more of a budget then front/rear ARB's, ALK, Droplinks and a fast road Geo from somewhere that knows what they are doing.
You could also do some decent bushes (something like Super PRO or such) - again not cheap if you do all of them as it's labour intensive.

Thanks jura11 and henrysmith - nice to know of another gb270 wagon.
Would you know someone you would recomend to fit and set up the suspension and how much are we talking for ast coilovers?
And when you say firm compared to the oem feel what's the comparison?
Did look at the powerstation stage 1 originally. What's the difference in handling over what I have now?
So while I am thinking of parting with my cash have you done anything with the tuning such as sport cat mapping etc? If so what's the outcome and where should I go.
I live in hertfordshire - dint mind a drive to find someone you can rely on
Thanks

Tuning is a slippery slope - starts small and just becomes more and more (for most that is).
https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...n-project.html
Tuning wise the 2.5's are easy to get plenty more power and torque from but make sure you familiarise yourself with the 2.5's 'shortcomings' before you mod!
The T25 suspension is something like £2000 now I think - the handling is far superior and the ride is firmer but not terrible - mines an 'Everyday/Every occasion' car and I prefer the firm suspension to the floaty/bouncy standard setup.
I know little about the KYB's but they are supposed to be very good.
As before I'd do both ARB's - I'd go 22mm front and rear for a newage mainly road car, Alloy droplinks and an ALK - the ALK seems to make quite a big difference as well. As Jura above suggested also the bump steer mod seems to help make a significant improvement but it seems to depend on who you talk to.
Geometry is defo a specialist thing - always had Powerstation do mine and it's been great - the car always feels so much more positive and tighter - this year I used the local 'Protyre' who used to be a tyre/geo specialist place as I did not have the time to travel to Powerstation which is a 3 hour trip each way. Whilst my car tracks better than before there is none of the gain/tighter feel/sharper feel that the car normally has.
Have you sorted or upgraded the brakes - they are the big let down in standard form (the standard stereo/speakers are not even worth mentioning).
You could post about recommended garages that deal in suspension around your way.
Good luck and hope you enjoy the car.

Wish I've GB270(We've only Bugeye JDM Wagon)
About the best options for yours needs, depends how much you are looking to spend and mainly if you are looking to track yours wagon,in most cases ride with coilovers is much harsher/firmer
If you are wiling to travel I would speak with Neil@Slowboy racing he build and fettled our wagon and really we can only recommend him,he can map yours car without the problem if you wish
Really is worth to speak with the Neil(he is now on Holidays I think on 22nd should be at work)
In yours area you have lots of option, like is Zen Performance,FB Tuning,TFS etc
All those above mentioned names are highly regarded companies which should help you with yours enquiries
As above about the mapping yours, you must be little bit more careful just due 2.5L are more prone to failure, due this i would say remap of existing yours turbo and you should have nice 280bhp maybe little bit more
Now about the coilovers, really depends on yours budget and would suggest try some coilovers on friend car before you will decide go with coilovers
I would suggest have look on the KW V1 or V3 which have great reviews,i've tried both of them on different cars and must admit I love them
We are went with coilovers just due we are doing like track days/drag runs and we running fairly wide wheels/tyres
