well basically my local "Subaru specialists" told that a knocking noise i had was coming from front top mounts. i wanted to lower my car also , so i brought 4 shocks from here off a 06 car that had done low mileage below 40k i believe with top mounts, guy fitted them i still had noise at the front, so i took it to another scooby guy quite a known one in Loughborough, they first thought it was suspension i explained the above and they changed the front drop links and it was sweet no noise from the front but the bang is making a knocking noise.. if you drive straight and streer left and right you can hear "it" knocking..

I've got the same problem at the moment, knocking coming from the rear. On smooth roads it doesn't knock however driving over small pot holes etc the rear knocks.
I have Tein Coilovers all round.
