Looking for some help. I have a 53 plate jap import wrx impreza. The shocks are red with black springs, can anyone tell me if these are standard wrx? Looking to lower the car but don't really want coilovers due to the solid ride.

Red shocks with black springs are usually the Sti struts and springs, There is a corrugated plastic insert over the damper, Lift it up so you can see the damper, Wrx ones are approx 25mm and Sti ones approx 40mm in diameter.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look.

Was hoping I'd have standard suspension as I want to go lower but not really wanting coilovers.

Eibach do a good set of springs, Lowers by 25mm i think, Prodrive did too but i think they are discontinued now.

I had a look at Eibach springs. There saying they drop standard 30mm but sure they said the don't drop the sti anymore. So if I'm already on the sti setup I won't get a drop by the looks of things. Had a look at H&R springs and there claiming a 35mm drop.

Do you know of any members on either Eibach or H&R so I can compare?
