advice on suspenion
Hi just wondering on hoe low I should go on my classic impreza with 17" wheels. And if I should just go for spring and shocks or to go with coilovers but don't really want the harsh ride as using as a daily

Ride height wise, I wouldn't go lower than about 15-20mm drop.
If at all possible, do Bonesetters P1 spring/Bilstein strut combo. Nothing better out there in a spring/non adjustable strut combo. If I had a GC, this would be the only non adjustable suspension I'd bother putting on it.

No, they're pretty horrible, to be honest. They look great on a car, no doubt. But they lower the car too much and they are way too soft for how much they lower. Sure you get the lower center of gravity advantage but that's about it. If you're just into boulevard cruising with your mates, then they are perfectly fine, if you want to be attacking a good B-Road, then even your stock suspension will perform better.
Unfortunately, there's not many good springs out there left for the GC. My favorite is the P1 spring. The various STi springs are good but I still prefer the P1 in regards to front to rear spring rate balance and the amount of lowering. Most of the STi springs are a bit softer in the rear compared what Prodrive did. So if you can, find a set and go with that. maybe hit up Bonesetter for his V5 struts. He might be willing to sell them to you.
