Default Strange Handling

Hi all,

I have a V4 STi with some strange handling issues.

I have noticed on right hand bends that the left front wheels seems to want to let go. Left hand bends are fine with the car gripping well.

There does not seem to be any problems with grip on the rear, just that front left tyre seems to want to let go too easily.

And another related problem is vibration felt throughout the front of the car when going hard into bends. Could this be a loose driveshaft or propshaft?

Also, I have a vibration when driving 65-70mph, I think this is wheel balancing as the tyres are new and the wheels have just bee refurbed.

Could this all be related to some single part that has failed?

What are your thoughts?

Check your wheel nuts are tight. If the area where the wheel nuts tighten up to has been painted the wheel nuts can slacken off as the fresh paint breaks away from the wheel.

any idea what your geometry is? That would be the first thing you should check. Make sure things are proper. Another possibility is your balljoints could be done as well. If they have a lot of play in them (either the lower ball joint in the knuckle or the steering/tracking rod, you could be getting a "dynamic alignment change". I had this when my right side lower ball joint was knackered. My static camber was fine, but as soon as I turned left, the cornering load would cause the right wheel to "fold under" to positive camber causing a good deal of understeer. Tire wear was also weird. Took me awhile to figure that one out.
