Be careful and rear my other thread on the matter!
Those shocks are £40 cheaper over at Camskill.
I am getting a set fitted atthe end of the week so I will update my thread the nwit hthe exact outcome, and and problems re compatability with the rear topmounts on 2005> Cars!

ive heard that the problem isnt the shocks themselves but the grease drying out? lots of people seem to be making a hole in the shock and putting in there own grease nipple so they can top up as and when...seems to work...

You're not wrong. The problem is that the 'bearing surface' of the shock tube goes dry, then the damper body bangs on the strut tube giving you knocking and graunching at low speeds.
If you sayed well on top of the grease, and fitted the grease nipples BEFORE they failed and re-greasing them frequently, you could keep the inverted shocks alive for as long as a standard shock. Sadly ,they fail and mine have been driven for a while failed ,by the look of the damper body which is scored. It will also have killed the bushing in the strut, so any fix with grease alone is unlikely to last. That's why I'm looking for a permanent solution, i.e. non inverted shocks. It doesn't give me confidence that KYB have been making inverted shocks for the STi since 2001, they used to fail, and yet in 2005-2006 their designs are STILL failing? And they sell inverteds as the 'ultra-SR' range?
Also, grease nipples on a car is a bit 1950's, don't cha think?

yep defo a bit oldey worldy but if it works? ive had a n/s rear knock for about a month, ive seen standard shocks for £130 a pair but seems a bit daft if its only going to happen again? hence i was toying with the grease idea...i was also toying with the idea of some better shocks but i will need 4x tyres soon so that looks unlikely...
