help improve ride
hi all , im running 19s on my 02 wrx which i know are a tad too big for a scooby ! but the low profile tires dont cope with the roads around here to good !! is there any way to improve the ride comfort without fitting coilovers ? to help absorb some of the impact from these fukin potholes !!!!!! holding back the rant about them !!
cheers all

Are you running the normal bug spring / shocks ?

coilovers will make it worse bud...............
you'll have to either deal with it or change down to 18's which are the perfect size for performance anyhows........you can then up the profile (maybe a 40/45) of the tyre then which will aid you and give you a bit of leeway on the pothole issues

I'm running 18's with a 35 profile on sti red shocks and its stiff but not unbearable.
Dont think i'd want to go up to 19's tho, handling is comprimised already once I went from 17's to 18's.

Jeez, you lot!
Why not try some standard 17" wheels and tyres-you'll be amazed at the difference. I find the stiff sidewalls on my BT070 compared to the flexible ones on my sottozero winter tyres transform the car's feel when I swap them over- and that's with identical profile and STi alloys.
Tyre pressures also make a difference but ultra low profile tyres are never going to flex much.
Again, it does depend on the shocks as a properly set up coilover with the right spring would make a far nicer ride. Long travel BC with 5/4 and softer internal valving should do the trick.
