Default bug & blob suspensions

Will an '05 STI blob eye suspension fit my '02 WRX bug eye ?
If so is this a worthwhile upgrade?

If its 05 STi i'm afraid not will not fit, because 05 STi onwards have 5X114.3 and you have 5X100.

But worth ask seller, which PCD have

The STI shocks are are major weak point.
There are far better options out there which improve handing and still retain a bearable ride for UK roads

Like I keep telling any one who wants to upgrade is to go for BC coilovers.

I've been toying with BC coilovers for a couple of years now, I was put off initially by my local specialist, but his preferred tein solution is just too expensive in relation to the car value. Perhaps I should reconsider some BC's.

What's the going rate for fitting?

I think its £350 but can't remeber it was on the invoice lol. There are loads of threads now with people recomending these. Why did your specialist say no.

I think he works on a money-no-object basis!
I was tempted with the TEIN + EFDC but that was coming out at like 1800 sheets.

i opted for HSD coilovers on my '03 wagon and TBH they are a bit too firm.

once you are on track or making progress they are fab, but pootling around town and speed bumps etc they are pretty awful.

i'm considering going back to OE suspension or perhaps even STI for a better quality ride.

Hmmm, this begs the question perhaps i'm better renewing OE and going for ARBs and braces.

Thing is i'm not sure what the shopping list would look like down the ARB route as theres so many bits n bobs - what size, bushes, drop links etc, i've literally no idea whats needed.

Mate don't forget BC coilovers are fully ajustable. I live in Birmingham and yes there are a lot of bumps but the way it handles is worth it lol.

Why did he try to put you off BCs, on what basis? Who was it?

Ill do you a full no quibble refund if you want to try a set If you arent happy then return them within 30 days for your money back.

The BCs are available in multiple specs both in terms of damping and spring rates. Thats one reason why they are so popular.

As I say above, Ill do you a full no quibble refund if you want to try a set of BCs If you arent happy then return them within 30 days for your money back.

We run BC racing coilovers and can recommend them 110%. They are a quality built kit available in many options and at a excellent price. You can set them up so they ride similar to a standard STI set up as well so are suitable for all tastes.

Anybody looking for suspension need look no further.

cheers Bren, i'm currently considering my options!

Likewise, my tuner was mildly discouraging to BC setup stating he'd had problems on customers cars with them.

in the end i opted for HSD, which as i say are fab when you pick up the pace, the car feel unstoppable!
however, speed bumps and poor quality of roads in london means they are abit jarring!

Your own experiences kind of highlights that whoever was giving you advice was wrong as you arent happy with the set up youve got. With the BC Racing kits you can choose the kit to meet your needs and the fact that you arent happy with the ride quality of the HSDs suggests that one of the more complient BC kits would have been a better choice.

Fitted this weekend, its a very easy install. But fek me 9-10yr old bolts can be welded on tight 1st 3 struts done painlessly, then the last bolt on the final rear strut would just not budge, split 2 sockets one from an old socket set & another that i picked up from halfords for 7 quid supposed to be 'professional deep socket' - lasted 1 turn, after much WD40 still no joy, ended up having to heat the bolt up & used spanners coz of the limited access to the lower bolt on the rear strut this was hard tedious work. Still once off it was plain sailing.

Haven't had the car aligned yet but the difference is so noticeable just wish i'd done it 2 years ago when I first considered it, really shows up how tired my original suspension had become. On soft the car glides over the potholes & bumps just like the wifes 2011 c-class which was a pleasant surprise on full hard its too bumpy for the b-roads round my way, so sat at 3 clicks off soft for now, with the rear extenders it'll be easy to keep tinkering.

So cheers Bren

Can I get it aligned anywhere? And how much should it cost? I'm near Aylesbury if anyone can recommend somewhere.

Cheers Dave

I'm running HSD HR and they're not too firm, you have correct ride height?

Our wagon running mostly in town and London its not the city without the speed bumps and i must say,HSD are much better than OE suspension with lowering springs..

What are peoples suggestions for everyday comfort on the dampers? I've got some rm series bc's with 8 and 6 springs and currently running in the middle of the damping range, ie same amount of clicks if you go either way. It's a very firm ride, maybe a bit to firm for the b roads so fancy having a softer setting I can dial in for when I need it.
