Default Recommended Suspension Mods

Hi,

I have a 2002 WRX bug eye, which is de-catted and remapped. I now want to do some suspension mods - I want to improve handling a lot and lower the car somewhat. What do people recommend I go for I don't want to break the bank balance too badly.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Nick.

Depends on how much you want to spend..........My original change to my bug WRX was Eibach springs, geometry, rear drop links and godspeed brakes.

Smartened things up without breaking the bank, especially if you just change the pads and discs............

Just off to put youngest child in bed so back later.......have a google for eibach springs from somewhere like scoobyworld, ditto the whiteline rear drop links. Godspeed disk / brake pad (kevlar) group buy on here. Geometry was about £80 I think LOL

Or phone Alyn at www.asperformance.com for the price of the hardware as he will likely beat the cost

It depends on the condition of your suspension at the moment...
After 7 years of abuse mine was worn out.

If you are sure the struts are still working fine then change the springs.

IMHO.

22/24mm rear ARB with solid droplinks around £280 fitted
Eibach lowering springs Around £400 fitted
Fast road geometry setup Around £100
Since then I've added CDF front droplinks Around £100 fitted.
Rear ARB is the best value and most noticeable mod

Hi Guys,

Cheers for the advice, I thing I might push the boat out a bit further and go for BC coilovers.

Cheers,
Nick

coilovers are stronger than std shocks and have the advantage of variable height but are f***ing hard, great in the corners but if the roads are bad....not fun. Eibach coilovers are softest but still not great on bumpy roads, am still happy but wish i'd have gone for eibach springs with KYB shocks in hindsight.
P.S. def get the rear rollbar

Daily Driver I'd get KYB Shocks and Eibach Springs, if you like it hard go for coilovers, lots out there I like my BC's but they are not the softest!

Definitely do rear ARB or front and rear plus the rear at least drop links - I went Eibach which can be had as a set for around £300 for front and rear and you can fit them your self with no problems as they don't affect geo. My Eibachs also are still rust free after around 5 years and how many people actually have adjusted their Whiteline adjustables?

Then you're looking at ALK, re/poly - bushing parts or possibly adjustable rear links and uprated rear arms.

You'll most likely need to get some rear camber bolts as well if you're planning on a fast road geo setup as you can't always get enough camber on the rears with out them.

Take a look at Powerstations suspension packs as a guide to the best order to do things - then get it done locally/cheaper!

Hi oobyJu and BlueBug Eye,

OK now you have me a bit worries about the coilovers, I drive my car for business and around town every day - worried about my fillings falling out now.

I will check out the prices of the Eibach spring and KYB shocks.

Cheers,
Nick.

Best bet is to get to local meet I'm sure you'll find someone with coilovers willing to take you out for a trial.
