suspension re-enforcement / strengthening
I’m in the process of poly bushing my suspension, I have all the rear subframe, diff assembly off, it’s all cleaned and stripped down ready for a coat of paint before re-assembly, while it’s all off I was wandering if there would be any benefit from re-enforcing certain areas, the subframe it’s self looks quite flimsy and the ‘T’shaped axle support, trailing arms and front lateral arms are open section ‘channel’ I’m sure some extra strength , stiffness could be achieved simply by boxing them in with 3mm steel plate, I’m going to beef up the ARB mounts as they are very weak, any one any thoughts ? also there are ‘lumps’ off solid metal welded are and there, 2x on the ‘T’ shaped axle support and another on the prop / diff cover, my guess is they are to aid NHV if so they will be coming off and I’ll save a couple Kg,
