They will both bend in an impact, maybe the alloy will bend sooner. But when on the car the alloy one's will flex much less. An old trick on the rally cars was to weld extra steel to the bottom arms to make them in to a box section to stop them twisting under load.

I came off on the hillclimb and bent the steel ones, so fitted alloy ones, but no real difference- hardrace ALK gives a lot more feedback than a standard one.
