Hawkeye Wagon Suspension
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, although I do have a Forester S-Turbo, but am looking for some advice on my MY06 Hawkeye WRX for suspension.
My rear strut is starting to make a knocking, so presume that it is on its way out & Subaru want £300 for a new strut!
I have seen this (£1200 for a full set of Bilstein Coilover Kit (B14) - Height Adjustable) :

But this is to replace all suspension and I have been advised that it will be quite a hard ride compared to the standard setup.
Are there any other options for coilovers for the Wagon that anyone can suggest for around £600-£800?

BC coilovers would be the best coilovers in that price range I believe.
Although I do have the full suspension set up from my GB270 wagon. Standard shocks, prodrive springs, 20mm front ARB and 19mm uprated rear ARB. This did about 4000 miles before I went for the Powerstation Stage 3-Type 25 set up.
Would sell the old stuff cheap cheap but would have to courier I guess as I am in Cornwall. Still be cheap though.
the GB270 setup is much better than standard WRX and still reasonably compliant.
Also change the droplinks whilst you are at it regardles of what you get done - the WRX droplinks are plastic!

I have a Hawkeye Wagon, I am running BC coilovers with 5/4 spring rate, also got whiteline rear ARB and drop links and it handles so much better than standard, find the ride good as well, firm but not crashy or solid at all.
If you are near Lincs feel free to drop in and have a ride!

Hi all,

Do you think a 4/3 would be too soft (will that too be harder than standard - if so, would go for this)- is your car used as a daily drive?

My car is used everyday, to and form work on some very bumpy country roads, not even B roads!
I had a 'fast road' set up done by Carnetix.
Dont know if 4/3 would be too soft, I think it would depend what setting the dampers were on as well.

Carnetix are who I use for the Foz, an have asked them for a quote on BC Coilover (5/4 and I’ll play with the damping) and White line Drop links.
What height did you go for? Think about 30mm lower than standard should be still practical.

No particular height, just lowered it until there was a sensible gap round all the tyres and still ok for speed bumps / bumpy roads.
Get Glenn to sit you in the car when he sets it up, made a big difference to my car than when he did it with no one in the drivers seat.

Thanks for the reply, my driving is mainly not even B roads like yourself, out in the country, so want something that's comfortable, but stiff, if that makes sense.
What settings do you have the damping set on? I've read that 6 to 10 clicks from soft is a good ride....
Any advice is greatly received.

I have 18 on the front and 16 on the rear so could probably be made even softer but I am happy with it the way it is.
If they are doing the drop links, may be worth thinking about the rear ARB as well.
