knocking , all 4 corners , slow speed only ?
hi every1 , just bought my bro's '02 wrx sti prodrive and i have inherited a problem that didnt bother him , but drives me mad. There is a knocking on all 4 corners , only at slow speed , even on my new drive (smooth) It doesnt do it over bumps , or when doing over 30ish. He said its a common problem , and its doing no harm , but i'd rather it didnt do it as i only drive it at weekends and it spoils my cruising !
All my other cars had lowering springs and knocked about loads , but i thought id be done with all that when i finally stopped driving 1.4s and bought a proper car
Any ideas ? dont mind what it is , just want it sorted !

Sounds like you might have the dreaded knocking Scooby shocks mate.
The Subaru shocks that came as standard are notorious for giving out and a knocking noise is normally an indication they're on their way out - all 3 of my Scoobys have had knocking shocks that have turned out to be knackered on inspection.
Is the car on the standard shocks or aftermarket?
Congrats on joining the Scooby club BTW!

Must say, I had knocking shocks on my current car and it was most obvious at very slow speeds, didn't have to be rough roads. As soon as I went over about 35mph or so the sound seemed to get lost in road noise. Best solution is to get them looked at and see what the deal is I guess. It's all part of the rich tapestry of owning a Scooby!

Yes mate they do knock on even the slightest movement, trust me. Mine also used to give a slight kangaroo "skip" at the rear end when I set off,
you defo have the shock problem and it will only get worse I'm afraid.
Coilover time!!

read another thread on scoobyireland about putting Lithium Grease on the shocks , i put the grease on them and its sorted ! there is a slight knock out of the rear left shock , which is probably buggered , but the others are fine.
