Suspension Pump - 1.8XT Turbo 4WD
Hi, my father-in-law has a 1.8 4WD XT Turbo Auto, 1987 which he dearly loves. It was left to him by a friend of his who died some time back. (Enough of the sentimental bit....)
The suspension pump appears to have gone, car is running on flat suspension with no compression at the moment with the light on most of the time. We've tried quite a few enquiries to find a replacement pump but the more I read about it the more of a minefield it looks.
So couple of questions;
1. Are there any pumps available either in UK or suppliers in the Far East or Australiasia where I think these cars are more common? Any recommendations of places to try?
2. Is it even worth replacing the pump or is it an expensive repair which may or may not work?
3. If we don't replace the pump then I've heard you can change the suspension for regular springs etc. Anyone know the details of what parts for what other models would fit to replace all the air suspension with something more standard?
Many thanks in advance for any advice...
Andy
