Question

Does anyone know if either Eibach or Prodrive have springs for a 2002 WRX Wagon? I have heard that the rear Wagon springs are longer than the Sedan's but I haven't seen different part numbers from Eibach or Prodrive.

Thanks...

Excellent question. It appears some companies do have two different part numbers for their sedan versus wagon springs for the '01 WRX ('02 in the US).

The Prodrive spring kit has been developed and tested to suit both 4 and 5dr versions of the 01/02MY cars and is available from Tire Rack in the US

Mike Wood,

For the wrx wagon, what would the drop be in the front and rear for MY01? What are the spring rates for your Prodrive Spring kit for this vehicle?

Are there any specific struts that you are recommending for these springs as yet?

Thanks!

Scotto

The car is lowered by about 20-25mm. Any lower and the front bumpstops are used all the time when cornering or braking which is not good.

The springs have been developed to be used with the OE dampers.

Mike,

Do you have any picture of a 2001/2002 WRX Wagon with the Prodrive springs?

Thanks - Neil

Thumbs up

NITO and Tiggs,

Thanks for the pictures. Both great looking cars. I have a silver wagon so I really appreciate NITO's picture. What size wheels are you guys running?

NITO, Tiggs, Mike Wood

What size tires and wheels are on those wagons?

I know Prodrive recommends 225/40/18 P Russo on the 18" P1 for the sedan, but what about the wagon?

I'm getting the Prodrive/Speedline P7 17x7 wheels. I was going to mount 215/45/17 Toyo T1-S, but they are on back order. I'm now considering the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in a 225/45/17 size. According to Michelin's specification sheet the overall section width would be about 8.6" (218mm) when mounted on a 7" wide wheel. That's less than the 8.7" for the Bridgestone RE730 in a 205/55/16 size that I ran on 16x7 Speedline Comp2 with 50mm offset. Both tires have about the same overall diameter. I had no problems (i.e. rubbing) with the RE730s, but that was on the stock springs. Should I be concerned if I plan to get the Prodrive springs?

(My car is a US market '02 WRX wagon)

We do use 225/40ZR18 Pirelli Pzero which also clears on 5dr cars (wagon) so I would have thought that 225/45ZR17 will also clear if used on an ET52 wheel like the Prodrive 7. They are a little bit larger than optimal for a 7" wide wheel though.

Mike,

I have a set of P1's which I believe are the same offset as P7's with 225/45/17 on a 02 WRX Wagon. Please confirm that this should not be a problem with your springs and OEM shocks.

That should be no problem if the geometry is correct.

Mike,

Please explain what you mean by "if the geometry is correct".

I don't think Matt was looking for a definition of geometry. Rather the actual settings for toe, camber, etc., etc. that would define the "correct geometry" as Mike Wood put it.
