98 Wagon Suspension Overhaul
I've been a dick and now won't be driving for a while...on the plus side I now have a year to fully overhaul my beloved Scoob!
I need to replace (as good as) the entire suspension, shocks, springs, bushes...
I have found everything I need but was thinking I might try and drop her a little to get a bit of handling improvement. Does anyone know what the least I can lower a 1998 (GF8) wagon is? All the springs I have found is 35mm but I'm not sure I want to go this much as I don't want to mess around with the arches, plus I do use it as a wagon so I dont want it rubbing when fully loaded!
Is there a way around the arches? Maybe lower profile tyres? at the moment shes on standard 16" 5 spokes on 205/50/16R tyres (I was also looking to upgrade to 17" alloys at some point but again don't want the hassle of playing around with arches!)
Any help is much appreciated...sorry for the long, boring, stupid post

17" alloys shouldn't be a problem.
I have 17" alloys, STI shocks and H&R rear springs on my wagon. However I wouldn't like to do a skip run though.
If you get coilovers you could set the height to whatever you want.

Are coilovers exspensive? I'm not mega technically minded so was hoping to keep it simple...I think I can get full shocks and new springs for around £400 all in maybe a bit less

BC coil-overs are on a group buy on here for not much more than your figure, I was impressed with Frosty's car, he's had them on for a year now !

How do coil overs work? do they completely replace shocks and springs or just shocks? When it comes to adjusting the ride height on them is it simple or a pain?
Sorry for the stupid questions but this is a little out of my area so looking to learn as I go on...I have a year to so makes it easier, and cheaper!
