Question Wheel alignment and changing springs?

I'm replacing one of the front springs on my Scooby on saturday with a new one as it's broken. But a mate has told me I'll have to get the geometry done on the car once it's fitted.

Is this absoloutely necessary?

I've been planning on doing this in the very near future either way, as I've hit my fair share of curbs, pot holes and seemingly invisible speed bumps.

So with that, can anyone recommend anywhere in the West Midlands that can do the wheel alignment/goemetry (they are the same thing? right?) for a good cheap price?

Cheers for any help guys.

Tom

Didn't wanna lower. The ride height and comfort is perfect for me. Got a replacement spring from a breakers for much less than a ton.

Can anyone help me out with my origional post please?

You'll be removing the strut from the hub, and when refitting you won't get it back in the same position. Kwik-fit type places only mess with the front tie-rod ends, but a proper alignment set-up will involve adjusting every possible part of the suspension. When done properly the difference is amazing. I had the so-called 'Prodrive Fast Road' set-up done by a reputable specialist and didn't see any improvement. After fitting my coilovers I had an alignment specialist set it up and it was incredible. My mate (dunx on here) has just had his car done to the same settings and he is astounded too. I can post the report if you want the settings.

Cheers for that mate, I've saved it. I'll try and shop around in the next month or 2 for a good local place that can do that for me .
