Thanks for the warning, I'm doing mine over Christmas.

Oops, remembered you've got to take the arms off the car for better access, so 90 mins to 2 hrs per side then?

Did you find fitting the new poly bushes a bit too easy? I thought they may have fitted more snugly than they did.

i had to oxy acecatalyne them out, couldnt get em on a press due to the design !!!, then had to hacksaw the outer collar in 2 places,,,,, the chissel that cut out as it had corroded to the alloy arms,,,,, then chissel the remaining to loosen it out,,,, took AGES,,,,,, THEN,,,,,,,,,,, i had to do the other side again then file them down on the inside to tidy them up

its a PROPER mare of a job,,, be warned as its alot harder than i thought,,,, and im lucky cause i got a garage with 9 techs to had behind my house who let me use there ramps/tools ect

theres no way your gonna do it in situ.... but they come apart very easy,, on and whilst your there buy some lower ball joints and change them as mine where fooked !!!

I knocked my old bushes out with a undersized socket, didnt take long at all, use a block of wood to protect the arms as you **** the bushes out,
Then use a long bolt and BIG washer to press them back in(I used a vx rear rose bush press to get them in).
hth

I've done most of mine in stages, so far I have whiteline flatout springs, AGX shocks, whitleine adjustable front top mounts, eibach front and rear ARBs, steering rack bushes, rose joint front (whiteline) and rear (perrin) drop links and hard race rear wishbone bushes. The hardrace kit has no anti-lift and creaks so rather than just lubricate them I'm going to replace them. I also fitted a rear diff lock-down kit, but when I wound the bolts in one of the captive nut broke free and I haven't been able to sort that yet. I've also got rear upper and front upper and lower braces.

I've got the front wishbone front bushes and adjustable, rose-jointed rear arms sat in the garage waiting to be fitted. Just need to get the ALK, roll centre ball-joints, and rear trailing arm bushes and I can finish the suspension jobs off.

I've also got a pile of camber bolts in the garage, whilst the rears are probably not required now I have the adjustable arms and can adjust camber and toe independantly, the front top mounts do not allow independant adjustment of camber/castor so I might put a pair of camber bolts on each side.

i have done most bushes now. there not too bad. i drilled through the rubber between metal sleeves. then run round the rubber with jigsaw. some of the rubber bushes are reinforced with strands of metal that like to go into your hands. then use a new hacksaw blade and saw through outer sleeve carefully.

jonmc been there also, had to go through box section with grinder and chisel. then weld it all up whilst trying not to blow up fuel tank.

TBH Euan, I don't think I can be bothered. The nut that is now well and truly stuck is having no effect as it never wound in far enough, and the other side isn't fitted.

i broke the captive nut off on one of the four subframe retaining bolts, so had no choice as it was half way out . was determined to paint up rear subframe whilst changing bushes. shouldnt maybe of bothered as it turned into a slightly bigger job than i had intended but its all done now so can laugh about it.

Probably fine for steel arms, but I'm not so sure about alloy ones with them being softer.

Like has been said before chain drill round the rubber to get the centre sleeve out then carefuly hacksaw a slot in the outer sleeve that is an interference fit with the arm. Once you have a slot in the outer sleeve use a screw driver to start to lift the edges. It is a time consuming and annoying job no doubt about it.
