Default Rear strut brace

Anybody know if there is a certain manufacturer to go for when buying one of these? It's pretty much a solid bar so what is the difference in the £40 - £140 price gap on different makes? are we just paying extra for the logo as usual? All advice welcomed

Proberly logo and material of the strut you are always going to pay more for carbon fibre or titanium.

I got a rear sti type one made of aluminium off ebay cheap. Fittin was ten minutes.......
Mine is a classic shape wagon and it definetly made a difference made the back end move all of a piece if u know what i mean? Just felt more solid.
The saloon has a stronger rear bulkhead then the wagon so i noticed it more.
Fitted one to the front an felt no different at all , again an ebay shot!!!!!.

Unless it's properly triangulated. an upper rear strut brace is only good as a camera mount and sod all else.

Take 4 strips of wood and screw them together in a rectangle. How rigid is it? Floppy as anything, isn't it? Why do you think an untriangulated strut brace will be any different?

All these 'improvements' are denial inspired figments of the buyers' imagination.

While your simily is valid, it very much depends on what is happening, if the rear of the vehicle is lozenging as you describe, then no, they do little, if its the sides bowing in or out due to the lateral load imparted by the strut top, then it will help, on a 4 door, almost certainly a waste of time, on a 5-door, less obvious.

Placebo effect.
With so much rubber in the std suspension any difference would be un-noticable imho.

I installed a whiteline rear strut bar. I run alot of whiteline stuff. They are a go-faster suspension maker, they do R&D and have a good reputation for making suspion parts that work.

Certainly stiffen up the rear for sure. Hard to describe but you can feel the rear better. Mindu I run stiffer tein ss coilovers. The effect maybe different on std springs.
