Default suspention?

when driveing at a higher speed rather kerb crawling, it is more noticeable.
as you accelerate then let off the car has a slight movement, wanting to pull to the right on acceleration, and on no acceleration it wants to go left.
it also thinks its a snake on heavy braking, wandering from left to right as you try to correct your straight line.
let it free wheel from speed cluth pressed, slight left movement.
brakes arnt ceased and dont stick

any ideas of the cause

bushes and rod ends seem to be fine.

It's always difficult to fault find on the net, but your symptoms smack of a failing wishbone bush.

When you say the bushes seem fine, remember the forces applied when you accelerate and brake, it's why the mot guys use lever bars to get enough force on them.

When you say wishbone bush, do you mean the rear trailing link bars? Mine does this too and has always done since I got it, been under with prybar and all the bushes seem sound, even took it to a decent subaru specialist and he couldnt see anything worth mentioning.

Is it worth just replacing all the bushes?

By bushes I mean any non metal part of the suspension system that is used to allow a medium of flex or reduce road vibration, basically where a moveable arm meets the rigid chassis.

If any of these are at fault, they allow the geometry to alter under acceleration or braking creating some sort of steering effect.

It could quite easily be a geometry fault to start with, meaning it's amplified when accelerating/braking giving an unstable platform.

It's more noticeable with front wishbone bushes as it allows the front wheel to 'steer' as it's forced backwards or forwards. It only needs a degree or so of movement to make noticeable effects.
