Default Clunking noisy drop links

Hi,

I've got a MY02 STi Type UK, with the full AST/Whiteline suspension setup.

My front drop links are now clunking and they are doing my head in.

I'm not sure of the exact model number that I have, but on looking at the whiteline site and seeing the drop links, they don't look like the ones I have.

here are mine

Can anyone recommend an alternative part that will perform and remain quiet

Thanks.

The stock links will do you just fine.

I have the ball links on my Sti V3 road/hillclimb car and they are silent.
I do however not use the car as a daily driver, weekends only and I lubricate them every month with silicon spray.

IMHO these parts are not 'fit n forget'.

After a year of use ,3K miles, mine look like this:

I have been told you can fit solid links, worth asking around I imagine.

911,

Mine is a daily driver. It's an 02 plate and I've done 113,000 miles

I just spoke to Curtis and he said either put the standard parts back on, or get the Perrin solid links.

Quick update.

Perrin solid drop links were fitted last week.

The car is now super quiet

The Whiteline drop links were completely shot. They were looser than a ****** drawers

I think Whiteline have a very good replacement policy with these spherical joints. It's worth contacting the Whiteline dealer or the distributor.........

They will never last, its just the way it is with spherical bearings. Especially on our roads with the wet, dirt and grit.

G'day everyone,

Apologies for the delayed response but I thought I'd pipe up and try to help out here if I can.

These style of links are a specialised solution but we are trying our best to make them as good as we can for road use with NVH etc a big challenge. We specifically added the boots to try to keep contaminants out but as 172sport implied, its a tough job.

For anyone that's having difficulties with this product, please contact us directly at support@whiteline.com.au and we'll try to work out a solution.

Best

Whiteline Jim

Mine are the same KLC39, I've been told mine are shot and I need to get the solid alloy ones KLC32 or the KLC30(need to modify these ones)
Like you I don't have the standard ones anymore and everywhere has sold out of the alloy ones!
Is my scoob safe to drive at the mo? SHE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE!

I tried the Perrin drop links a few years ago and had nothing but trouble with noise (well documented on Nasioc at the time). Anything droplinks with spherical joints will be noisy after a while. I now use Whiteline KLC32 without any problems and no noise at all.
Mind you, I wish I had the adjustability of the Whiteline KLC39 to take out any pre-tension of the ARB........

I've just heard back from whiteline, they apologized for the inconvenience and they have revised the KLC39's and are currently getting trialed.

No mention of replacing my faulty drop links!

Hi, not sure if I have the same problem (or indeed whether I have one at all) my car feels perfectly fine to drive, when ever I drive over manhole covers/pot holes etc I get a clunking noise from the suspension. I dont know what it is - I always thought it might have been a loose bumper (yes I'm new to scooby ownership!) but reading this thread has made me think other wise

You can buy equivalent rose joints for around £5 each from any bearing dist.

Probably best to email sales@whitelineautomotive.co.uk

They should send out replacement sphercal joints straight away.

Within the first month of having the whiteline droplinks fitted I noticed mine going over pot holes etc. I was given more lube for all the whiteline kit, which stopped the clunking for a week or two.

If I were you I'd check your droplinks, if you have the KLC39's they might be knackered.

Hey guys,

Anyone who feels they have an issue please contact sales@whitelineautomotive.co.uk or if you would prefer to deal directly with us forward your details to support@whiteline.com.au

I never like seeing unhappy customers, but I will maintian that any spherical bearing style suspension component is performance/ motorsport focused. And like most motorsport products requires upkeep and does present a compromise with ride quality.

But please do not hesitate to contact us

Regards,
Whiteline Jim

As above, who can hand on heart say they have removed, cleaned and refitted them?
As i've said before this type (rose joint) was fitted OE on Integrales and they never lasted either 6 months and they rattle.
The std Subaru part just doesnt need changing IMHO.
