Cool

Well the deed is done.... and I am well pleased. Paul's dad took me for a little demonstration drive in my car, and before we'd gone 50 yards on the main road it was immediately obvious that my concerns about the harshness of the ride were unfounded. In fact, I'd say that the ride is slightly more compliant and less crashy than standard.

As for the handling, it's all be said before on here, and it's all true - more poise, less roll, more stability. The Eibachs really do seem to work well with the MY 00 dampers, and the drop in ride height is pretty subtle, which I like, though I guess they'll settle a little bit over the next few days.

I'd always been slightly disappointed that the Impreza couldn't match my previous car, a 306 GTi-6, in the handling stakes. This is probably one of the main reasons why it took 3 test drives to convince me to order an Impreza. If the first Scooby I drove had handled like mine does now with the Eibach's, and geometry set, I suspect I would have ordered one straightaway.

The boys at TSL did try to talk me through the geometry settings, but to be honest, all I really know is they took a lot of care to get them as accurate to their 'ideal' settings as possible. Judging by the way the car turns in now, they did a fine job!

A couple of 'warnings' about TSL though:

1. If you are used to dealing with the average Subaru dealer, you're in for a very pleasant surprise at the hospitality on offer at TSL!

2. Paul and the boys will do their utmost to prise more cash out of your wallet! In my case, Goodridge hoses 'because the struts were coming off anyway' and Silkolene Pro Race brake fluid - nice one chaps, firmed up the brakes nicely just like you said....

3. Don't be fooled by Paul's dad - just because he smokes a pipe, it doesn't mean if he takes you for a drive it will be at a leisurely pace........I think he liked my car.......

So thanks to the boys at TSL for a fine job!

Cheers
Tim

Had the Eibachs fitted along with the alignment settings,by the crew at TSL.What a great mod this is!The car feels much more planted now with very crisp turn in.My fears that the ride quality would suffer are unfounded,as the new set up makes the ride smoother.
Also got some clear front and side indicators fitted after presure selling by trouser!!

A happy,ski.

ps.the tea was spot on too.

<ps.the tea was spot on too.>

That's what I wanted to hear, I'll be ringing them to book it in soon - might get the springs and geometry done while I'm there drinking tea....

Thanks for the reassurance about ride, I was a bit worried about this.

Yep no problems for me either ! ! ! Ride is a little harsher but the car is so much sharper. Just be careful getting used to it though. Don't know what it would be like with 18" wheels though, it might get a bit fidgety.

I've got the Eibach springs on 18" wheels on my MY01. The ride is firmer, but not to the point of making it uncomfortable. The trade off in terms of improved looks and much sharper handling (with little or no understeer) is well worth it IMHO. Mine were fitted by Powersation who also did the geometry setup - recommended.

Here's a picture for you - not the best angle, but you can see how it has lowered the car. Chris

I've booked my Scooby in for the Group N discs, pads, hoses and fluid. Apparently it's easiest to fit the hoses when doing the springs. Must resist!

How much are the Eibachs again?

Yep, it's a good one isn't it! I think the exact quote was 'as the struts are coming off anyway they'll be very little extra labour to replace the hoses'. Can't argue with that though, can you!?

TSL do Eibachs and alignment as a package for £315+vat.

Cheers
Tim

I'll second your comments NBW on TSL.
They did a fine job on my car which is now transformed.
