Creaking Suspension on P1
#1
I'm only driving my Scooby at the weekends at the moment.
When I first start off I go over 3 speed bumps (very slowly - mind the spoiler) and the suspension creaks like hell up and down. By the third speed bump it has mostly gone away. After that it is fine all weekend, then I park it up (outside) and off we go again the next week.
Various suggestions have arisen, rust on the first 2 coils of the springs, grit in the bushes... The garage has supposedly greased/oiled things (they didn't say what) and this has lessened the creak, but it lasts longer in the morning.
Has anybody else had this or know of a resolution?
Cheers...

Sound like your Anti-roll bar bushes are worn.
Mine were worn out and picked up by PE at my last service.
I had the same creaking over speed bumps on cold/cool mornings which eased after a few miles as the rubber 'warmed up' or got some self-lube going.
I've just had them replaced and the creaking has gone.
£6 each and you can fit them easily yourself on a jack. Alternatively, work some silicon grease or other lube into the area and get them done at your next service.
Hope this helps boys.

Pete Croney might be able to answer this better, but I remember a similar thing on the LEDA suspension kits. I suspect it could be the oil in the dampers not being at a sufficeint temp. for a few miles. The viscosity at cold temps is probably causing the noise you are experiencing. This is why the noise disappears after a few miles as the damper oil warms up.
But then again, I could be talking cr4p.
