Arrow BEST UPGRADE FOR MY 02 WRX

Want to improve the handling on my 02 WRX - what's the best best place to start? Car is completely standard handling wise apart from upper front and rear struts

Cheers

Ive also got a 52 WRX,completly standard, and I would also be interested in much the same info.In fact, do upper strut braces add that much on their own, or is it better to add even more bracing.Ive seen lower front braces but havent been sure if they are worth the trouble to fit.

The struts def help. I understand whiteline front & rear ARB's will sort mine out a bit more but not sure if I also should fit better drop links and anti lift kit at the same time

Eibach springs, rear ARB, f+r drop links and a geometry set up.

Like you I've a Bugeye WRX

It's a daft place to start but the best track ride I have had was in a Skoda Octavia driven by Steve Sherwen.... posts by the name of steve sherwen on SN

Prior to that he had a bugeye WRX with Eibach springs and Godspeed brakes and maybe something else

Way ahead of me on the driving front on scooby days out

He still posts on here or maybe try a PM

that is a really good combo for little money ( considering the cost of coilovers)

you would really notice the difference

if you start adding big brakes, 350 + bhp you really need to start thinking about coilovers but untill then the above will make you very happy , did with me

Hi !
Slightly different car, '02 bug-eye sti, but just fit a Whiteline rear ARB, with some drop-links and make sure it's an adjustable one.... much nicer handling as the rear sits flatter, making the front seem more accurate when changing direction.
ALK alters the front to help steering response.
Changing the geometry can also loosen the rear for more fun....

Dunx

Mega track use might benefit from huge underbraces, but maybe not for road use....

I have an 02 WRX,

I fitted Eibach springs, and have rear solid drop links as the only suspension mods, made a huge difference to the handling.

Many more mods planned soon, including front drop links and front and rear ARB's

Followed by a geo set up

Should be fun then

01 WRX bugeye wagon with 22mm Whiteline adjustable rear ARB transforms handling, makes the front very pointy when on stiffest setting so start with the middle as this seems to suit most people best. Just watch out as it can be a bit twitchy in the damp.

Hi cookster

im not sure what power your running now but it you have the big brake upgrade and running 350 + a good set of coil overs will be a huge improovment

knowing the before and after I would go as far to say don't go for bigbrakes before coilovers ... but i think may be i was starting to take the **** a little bit to much with the speeds i was hitting on the road ... im a good boy now

Rich

As far as I am aware Cookie is running my "old" Bugeye Eibach suspension

I run a set of Exe-Tc coilovers and for most of the time they are pretty much like my eibach set-up.

yup, Midlifes old springs

running well over 400bhp now, and really think the suspension and brakes are not up to the job anymore.

Steering is very light also which i would like to sort out.

Coilovers are a must now me thinks

You might want to consider a set of coilovers, theres some bargains to be had in the group buy section
